Endless postcard step by step. Master class — “Endless postcard. What do we need to create a New Year's card with our own hands

Master class on creating an endless postcard. The article was written for the magazine.

Materials:

4 sheets of cardboard measuring 10 x 20 cm;

8 sheets of paper measuring 10 x 10 cm;

8 sheets of paper measuring 5 x 10 cm;

8 sheets of paper measuring 5 x 5 cm;

Various non-dimensional decorations

1. First you need to make 3 folds on each sheet of cardboard: on the larger side - at a distance of 5 and 15 cm, and on the smaller side - at a distance of 5 cm. Each of them must be bent back and forth several times so that the leaves of the finished postcard open freely in any direction .

2. We take one of the cardboard blanks and glue the two extreme right squares at the top and bottom of the postcard with glue.

3. We glue the second cardboard blank to the upper square perpendicular to the first blank.

4. Glue the third blank to the first under the second.

Be sure to check that all the folds match, and the edges of the blanks are parallel. After that, we glue the fourth blank parallel to the first. As a result, we have a square of cardboard, where two wings are glued horizontally and two are glued vertically.

5. Now let's start decorating our postcard. For the first spread, we take 2 sheets of paper 10 x 10 cm and 4 sheets of paper 5 x 10 cm. We decorate them at our discretion, just remember - we do not use very voluminous decorations, otherwise our postcard will not fold. Now glue the blanks, as shown in the photo.

6. We take the leaves of the postcard and open them in different directions: right - to the right, left - to the left.

For the decor of the second spread, we need 2 sheets of 10 x 10 cm and 4 sheets of 5 x 5 cm. Decorate and glue, as in the photo. Did you notice that I did not decorate two sections of the postcard? This is because they are the embellishment for the third spread, so be sure to keep this in mind when further embellishing your work.

7. Now we take and bend the wings of our postcard up and down.

For the decor of the third spread, we need 2 sheets of 10 x 10 cm and 4 sheets of 5 x 5 cm. We decorate them and glue them, as in the photo. Again, open the card to the right and left.

8. For the last, fourth turn, we take 2 sheets of paper 10 x 10 cm and 4 sheets of paper 5 x 10 cm.

Now, when you open the card up and down, you will get to another spread. And so on ad infinitum!

Good luck to all creativity!

Hello, regular readers and guests of the blog!

Condition:make a postcard on this MK.

Gift: a set of paperEcho Park HELLO SPRING (30*30cm) 7L.

Entries are accepted from September 1 to October 1 (inclusive). Draw: October 3rd.

And now I give the floor to the author:
- "I invite everyone to make an interesting postcard, which is called" endless ". It has such a name because you can twist it endlessly in your hands, opening turns and not understanding how it works. :) I will say right away that if you give such a card to someone, then the recipient will have no limit to admiration and surprise! And although there are only 4 spreads in it, but opening them, you don’t notice this and it seems that something new is opened every time.

It's actually very easy to do. Let's start?!
Cut out 4 rectangles from watercolor paper with sides 20 * 10 cm

Having set aside 5 cm from each edge, we draw a line with a scoring or knitting needle and bend along it like this:

We take 2 blanks, set aside 5 cm from the edge and draw a line with a pencil to the fold line. We should end up like this:

We grease these corner squares carefully, without going beyond the pencil line and the fold line, with glue, but it is easier to stick strips of double-sided tape:

There comes a very crucial moment. Firstly, we open the sticky layer of adhesive tape and very carefully, tightly to each other, side by side, put two blanks, as in the top photo, but without leaving a gap in the middle. Secondly, we take the third blank, turn it in our hands perpendicular to the already laid blanks and, combining the corners, glue it to the first two blanks. Those. it should be glued across first at their top corners. Here in the photo you can see that the bottom layer is the first two blanks, and on top, across them, the third blank is glued. The lower corners of the first blanks with glued adhesive tape are still free.

All our design is ready!
Take the card in your hands and twist it, opening the sashes. If somewhere it still sticks and the sashes do not open well, then it's okay - now you can cut these sides with a breadboard knife, removing 1 mm from the edge.
And then it remains only to decorate the card.
In my version - shabby chic style, and you can choose any.
I decorated the first spread like this:
first, she toned the edges and folds with dry pastel to match the selected sheet.

I cut the sheet into pieces - 2 squares measuring approximately 9.7 * 9.7 and 4 rectangles measuring 9.7 * 4.7. The edges frayed. This can be done with a special tool, but I use a scissors blade.

I sewed rectangles on a typewriter, glued them, added decor.

Since for some time now I have become a passionate fan of texture pastes and stencils, I use the volume created with the Sonnet texture paste in the decor. When it dries, it turns from snow-white-white to translucent. It turns out such a light, unobtrusive pattern. I lightly tint the dried paste using a sponge with the same dry pastel.

In some places you can apply stamps "Text". Butterflies and semi-pearls are also quite appropriate in works in the shabby chic style.

By the way, after stitching the edges on a typewriter and removing the threads inside out, you should not tie them in a knot. It is better to fix them by gluing a strip of masking or paper tape

We open the first doors and get to the second turn. Here you can place the text of congratulations, poems, suitable pictures or photos.

Again in the decor I use texture paste, but this time from Tair. When dried, it remains snow-white-white. Lightly tint it with pink pastel.

Lace, aged buttons and craquelure are all possible attributes of a shabby chic style.

We open the doors again, moving them up and down this time, and we get to the third turn:
I have it decorated with paper laces and textured laces. But you can also place congratulations, pictures and photos here. In the future, I will have an inscription like " Best wishes beautiful birthday girl". You can put an inscription with a stamp, but I didn’t have a suitable text, I’ll write it by hand later.

Lace texture paste Tair:

Can be added with stamping.

We open the doors and get to the fourth turn. Here I made pockets with tags, on the back of which there is a continuation of the poem begun on the second spread.

Patterns with texture paste:

We do not overload the tags with voluminous decorations so that the card can close.

A little more embossing in the corners.

Here is the finished postcard.
You, of course, realized that it is quite possible to turn it into a miniature if you paste a photo or into your favorite book of poems by your favorite author :)
And I'll probably also give the verses used in this postcard, suddenly someone will come in handy.

There are women who are adored
There are women who attract
Who fall in love, seduce,
that give confidence.

There are women who look like stars
There are women who are like a dream
Beautiful like morning roses
Like a brook, a crystal chime.

There are women calling on the road,
There are women living in dreams
There are women given by God,
There are those that are praised in poetry.

There are those whose name is Light and Tenderness,
There are those who are called Joy,
There are women who will comfort
There are women who will understand.4. When publishing a work, the post MUST contain the banner of the task and an active link to the task itself.

Master class - "Endless card"

In order to make an Endless postcard, we need two sheets of scrap paper, in my case one-sided, 15x15 cm in size.

Cut both leaves in half.

And fold in half lengthwise.

We get four blanks. We bend each on both sides to the center, thus marking the fold lines at a distance of 1/4 of the length.

We combine the two halves of one sheet, put it on the table inside out. We coat the outer upper squares with glue.

We glue the half of the second sheet across the first one. We glue the outer lower squares with glue.

Glue the second half in the same way. Tip: When creasing, don't press too hard. You may notice that the fold lines after gluing are a little off. Then you can go through the assembled construction with a creaser. If you notice that some of the edges are slightly sticking out, then cut off all the excess.

We take the postcard as shown in the figure and open the doors, turning them back.

We get a turn of this kind, as in the photo. We go through the folds with a scorer.

We plow the squares up and back.

We get a new turn. We go through the bigovchik.

We open the card again, turning the squares to the sides and back. It remains to open the doors up and down - and we get to the beginning of the postcard.

It remains only to decorate it. Do not use volumetric elements so that the card opens easily. I like to think of the second spread as the beginning of the postcard - it looks more interesting and becomes more stable. When decorating the second spread, do not decorate the side parts (in the photo they remained white).

These white parts are the components of the third spread.

Good luck with this MK. I confess, I only understood how to turn this postcard from the third time. But then you can't get rid of it. Many who saw her agreed that she was already like a full-fledged gift!

The idea of an endless postcard is simple and original. You can decorate it both in a festive-gift, and in a bright-game manner. This postcard is a wonderful remedy for stress and fatigue.

A characteristic feature of the endless postcard is the possibility of its original rotation, in which new sides open up. And this process can be continued indefinitely.

1. When creating this postcard, we used design elements made in the technique of artistic cutting. These are stencils for contour details.

2. The base of the postcard is four rectangles glued together in a special way. Their size can be any. The main thing is that the sides of the paper have a ratio of 1: 2. In this example, the sides of the rectangles are 6 cm and 12 cm. The paper should be thick (120-180 g/m2).

3. We outline the middle fold line. And two more lines perpendicular to it. To get them, you should measure a distance from the edge of the paper equal to half the smaller side of the rectangle. In this example, it is 3 cm. All lines must be punched (pushed through). Usually, a fully written rod is used for this.

4. We bend our blanks.

5. Let's start decorating the details. We print stencils and attach them with a stapler to the paper of the selected color.

6. Cut out the elements using a craft knife.

7. We glue the decorative details to the main ones.

8. We begin the process of assembling the postcard. We lay two blanks of the same type side by side without a gap. Apply glue to the upper corners (they are marked with green lines).

9. Glue the third part. Lubricate the lower corners with glue.

10. And we attach the fourth blank. The base of the postcard is ready.

11. Turn the opposite side up. And we will consider it the first.

12. We open, wrapping the edges to the left and right at the same time. The other side is empty.

13. We decorate it by cutting and gluing contour butterflies.

14. Add decorative details cut down with curly composters.

15. We continue to rotate, opening the edges up and down.

16. We decorate the third side with two halves of a butterfly glued side by side.

17. Again, open the edges to the left and right. Let's go to the fourth side. And we keep spinning. Now the fourth side will be the first. We count - once.

20. Four.

Endless postcard is ready!

If the decorative elements decorating the postcard are placed symmetrically, then it will not have a strict orientation. And the rotation can be started from either side.

Here is such a wonderful endless postcard in its simplicity and beauty.

Why endless? Because the design of the card allows you to watch how endlessly changing, like in a kaleidoscope, frames from your life, if you decide to give a card for a birthday or wedding and used photographs for its design, or endlessly please a child if pictures from cartoons or his funny pictures, or amuse you in New Year if these are funny holiday pictures ... About how to make an endless postcard for the New Year with your own hands, we will talk with you today.

What do we need to create a New Year's card with our own hands?

  • Scrapbooking paper with New Year motifs. For the base itself, you will need two sheets of paper, preferably double-sided, because. the wrong side of the sheets as a result will also be visible, and 1-2 sheets of paper with a different pattern for decoration - here is your choice.
  • For decoration, we took New Year's stickers - of course, you can choose something else.
  • Glue, brush (you can use a glue stick or double-sided tape), scissors, ruler. If there is a creaser, it's perfect, but if not, it's quite possible to get by with just scissors and accuracy 😉

Making the basis of an endless postcard

To begin with, we cut out two 16x16 cm squares from scrapbooking paper (at this stage it is better to choose paper of soft colors, without a large pattern, so that it does not turn out too colorful). We cut each of them in half, we get 4 blanks 8x16 cm.

We measure another 4 cm from each of the short sides of the workpiece, draw a line along the short side with a creaser and bend the workpiece. You can, of course, do without a creaser, but its use will avoid creases and make the work more accurate. The workpiece must be free to bend in both directions.

Now we fold our blanks so that the pattern is aligned, while the cut between the blanks for one large square should go vertically, and for the other - horizontally. We coat the corners with glue or glue with double-sided tape and glue the base of the postcard.

Now let's get to the fun part - decorating.

In principle, anything can be used to decorate such a postcard, the main thing is that this “anything” is flat, otherwise it will not completely close during assembly. We took scrapbooking paper of a different color with a brighter pattern and voluminous New Year's stickers.

Tip: since the finished endless card consists of squares and rectangles 4x4, 4x8 and 8x8 cm, it is better not to take stickers or other decorations that will be larger than the size of the decorated squares. Otherwise, the stickers will curl when folded and peel off.

We decorate small squares and rectangles with bright scrapbooking paper. If we have paper with some kind of thematic holiday drawing (for example, like we have with Santa and gifts), then individual finished elements of this drawing can even be cut out and also used for decoration. We decorate large squares (8x8) with stickers.

The main thing here is to look at our endless postcard from all angles. Because a large square that you want to decorate with a sticker, when turned over, the other side will turn out to be a 4x8 rectangle, and some piece of the sticker will definitely peek out from behind the edge of the square ... Therefore, before sticking something, carefully and more than once unfold the card from all angles, attach all the decorative elements and see how they will look at different stages of unfolding. Perhaps this is the most difficult step in making an endless postcard, but if you check everything and look at it from all sides, you will get a real masterpiece!
