Review of the Xiaomi Yi Travel Edition Action Camera. Xiaomi Yi Action Camera review: stylish and cheap xiaomi yi action camera

XIAOMI Yi Action Camera is a worthy representative of action cameras. After the appearance of this camera on sale, almost immediately there was talk that the popularity of the device could not only equal that of GoPro, but even surpass it. The camera has a similar appearance and similar photo and video capabilities. At the same time, the cost is several times lower, which also increases its popularity. It is perfect for recording your flights and for its intended purpose, as an action camera.

Appearance

Let's start the review with the appearance. The camera can be selected in two colors, one of which is white and the other is bright yellow-green. Lovers of variety can additionally purchase panels of a wide variety of colors. The body is made of durable matte plastic, ribbed around the perimeter of the camera. A lens with a diameter of 24 millimeters protrudes from the front. It is important to note that the lens glass is not covered with anything and is slightly higher than the protective ring, so scratches are guaranteed.

Xiaomi Yi does not have a display and contains the minimum required number of buttons for control. There are only three of them:

  • a button for turning the camera on and off, as well as switching the camera from photo to video mode and back;
  • activating video recording and taking pictures;
  • Wi-Fi enable button.

On the back wall there are micro USB, Micro HDMI ports and a memory card slot, covered with a flap.

Be careful, the plug is not attached to the camera in any way, it is very easy to lose it.

All settings of the Yi action camera are performed using a smartphone through the application. There is a threaded hole for attaching a tripod. LEDs on the body will help you navigate when controlling the camera without using a smartphone.

Equipment

In this matter, the principle of minimalism is observed. Just as the device box itself does not contain any information other than the name, its contents are also limited to the camera, battery, USB cable and instruction documents. Compared to other analogues, the equipment is quite modest. This is typical for the XIAOMI Yi Basic Edition (First photo below). There is another configuration option - Travel Edition, the cost will be slightly higher than the first. This is due to the presence of a monopod. It is strong, metal, of good quality, and is mounted according to the tripod principle. The monopod can also be purchased separately if you want to supplement the basic package with it. In addition, as an additional accessory, the camera comes with a special sealed box for shooting underwater. It can also act as additional camera protection.

Camera Specifications

The camera weighs only 72 grams, and the dimensions of the device are 60.4x42x21.2 mm. Its lightness and small size make it easy to use the Yi as a flight camera. It is worth noting that the camera battery is fully charged allows video recording High Quality within an hour with working WiFi. The recording is saved to a micro SD/SDHC/SDXC card.

XIAOMI Yi Action Camera Specifications:

  • Camera interfaces: Micro-USB 2.0; Micro-HDMI; Bluetooth 4.0; WiFi.
  • Ambarella A7LS processor.
  • CMOS BSI Exmor R 1/2.3″ 16 MP image sensor.
  • sound recording up to 96 kHz, 92 dB.
  • 155-degree lens with F 2.8 mm aspherical lenses;
  • optical stabilization and noise reduction;
  • shooting speed: up to 7 photos per second;
  • continuous recording time: 59 min. in 1920×1080 50p mode with working Wi-Fi (recording and broadcast mode)
  • There is no optical zoom;

Photography capabilities

The camera takes photos with a maximum resolution of 4608x3456. In this case, the resolution can be adjusted to a choice of 13 MP, 8 MP or 5 MP. In general, the quality of the photos is not bad, but most modern smartphones with good quality cameras will take a better picture. In fact, the pictures come out with noise and slightly blurry.

Timer shooting allows you to take pictures at a rate of 7 pictures per second. The result of such shooting will be many photos that can be combined into a video. For photography, a wide-angle lens is used to capture the environment at 155 degrees. But the edges of the pictures turn out blurry, which spoils the whole impression.

Video Capabilities

As stated by the developers, the Xiaomi action camera has an automatic accelerometer for automatic rotation and orientation. Unfortunately, in reality the camera can only shoot horizontally. Optical stabilization allows you to shoot video in shaking conditions. This is especially true for action cameras. The maximum recording quality is 1920x1080 at 50 frames per second. In this case, the setting allows you to select the desired recording quality from the list of available ones.

It is most effective to use the camera in combination with 2 or 3-axis gimbals.

Recording is done in short segments of 5 minutes. There's no way to change this in the settings, but you can set it to record short sequences in a continuous sequence until the memory card runs out of space.

Supported Resolutions:

  • 1920 x 1080 25 FPS (16:9)
  • 1920 x 1080 48 FPS (16:9)
  • 1920 x 1080 24 FPS (16:9)
  • 1280 x 960 50 FPS (4:3)
  • 1280 x 960 48 FPS (4:3)
  • 1280 x 720 50 FPS (16:9)
  • 1280 x 720 48 FPS (16:9)
  • 1280 x 720 100 FPS (16:9)
  • 848 x 480 200 FPS (16:9)

Sound recording leaves much to be desired. In windy weather, it is difficult to distinguish a person’s speech even at a short distance. Adjusting the audio doesn't help the situation at all, nor does the 3D noise reduction feature. However, it is worth remembering that audio recording is not a priority for an action camera.

Application

In order to connect the camera and phone, you need to activate Wi-Fi on the camera and launch the application on the phone. After a few seconds of waiting, the phone finds the access point and makes a connection.

conclusions

XIAOMI Yi has a pleasant stylish appearance and many advantages stated by the creators and described in the accompanying documentation. Questions arise regarding the quality of the photos; as for the video, it is more than worthy. It is important not to forget that the price of this device is in a category from which you should not expect stunning quality indicators. In terms of price-quality ratio, the camera is fully consistent with its category and will be an excellent solution for flights.

The cost of the camera is 4500 rubles.

Lei Jun's company Xiaomi develops not only smartphones, but also many other gadgets, managing to maintain low price with good quality. This causes respect, especially since the company does not have its own production. Since 2015, the company has entered the action camera market, literally blowing it up with its YI Action Camera box.

Chinese sites are packing packages by the thousands, bloggers are singing YI’s praises and calling it “the GoPro killer,” and enthusiasts are writing improving scripts for it and coding alternative firmware. What's good about this camera? Read the review.

About YI Action Camera Basic Edition

7.5 Evaluation

Options - modest for an action camera

The equipment of most action cameras is prepared for all occasions, but this is not the case with Xiaomi. The camera itself, a short flat USB micro-USB cable, instructions and a battery are enclosed in a strict box made of natural cardboard. This is not to say that this is bad, this is normal savings. Each owner knows why the device is being purchased and will purchase a selfie stick, windshield holder or cat mount separately.

The design is an allusion to GoPro with its own features

Externally, YI looks like a small parallelepiped measuring 60x42x21 mm and weighing 72 g, reminiscent of GoPro, but does not copy it. The body is made of matte plastic with corrugation, not soft-touch, but does not slip in your hands. The color of the shell is blue, the façade is yellow-green. There is also an inconspicuous white version on sale - it’s better not to take this one to the mountains, so as not to get lost in the snow. Although the plastic is quite durable, there is no special protection in the camera; you need to at least buy a silicone case, and for underwater photography - an aquabox.

On the front panel there is a lens and a large button for turning on and changing photo / video modes. The elegant glowing ring around it changes color depending on the remaining battery charge. The shutter button is in a place familiar to photographers—it starts or stops recording. The side contact controls the Wi-Fi module.

Appearance YI Action Camera Basic Edition

Unlike GoPro, the 1/4" tripod thread is already built into the body and this is a big plus, no additional frames are needed, mobile studio can start working immediately after mounting the camera on a monopod.

The left flap on the rear wall hides a micro-USB socket for charging, a micro-HDMI socket for an external screen, and a micro-SD card slot (supports up to 128 GB). A removable battery is hidden under the cover on the right.

Lens – wide angle up to 155 degrees

The YI Action Camera uses aspherical glass lenses to reduce aberrations at the edges of the frame. The field of view is 155 degrees.

This is not very much, but it beats any smartphone. When filming a boat regatta, not only the rowers and helmsman, but also the dog will be in the frame. There is no optical image stabilization - this is the level of more expensive cameras. For filming in motion, it is recommended to purchase a stabilizer (steadicam) separately.

YI Action Camera Basic Edition Lens

Smartphone screen instead of display

The YI camera does not have its own display. On the one hand, this is good - there is no unnecessary energy consumption, the weight of the unit is reduced. On the other hand, when installing on a skateboard, there is a chance to miss and get a great video of the sneakers on the deck instead of a trick on the ramp. Therefore, a mobile application becomes an integral part of the Xiaomi ecosystem.

Interface mobile application YI Action Camera

The program connects to the camera via Wi-Fi, shows a live stream from the sensor and a list of captured videos. All settings and remote control— works at a distance of up to 100 meters.

Shooting video in resolutions up to Full HD

The Sony Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor with a resolution of 16 MP is responsible for the formation of digital images. There are many video modes in the settings, the coolest is 1920x1080 (Full HD) at 60 frames per second. Note that the camera has difficulty operating this mode - it heats up like a stove, until the frames fall out, and drains the battery. It is recommended to reduce the frame rate to at least 30 frames. There is a mode high-speed shooting up to 240 frames per second, but the resolution is only 840x480 - you won’t want to watch it.

The YI sensor works well in bright light, but in the dark the picture turns out worse, matrix noise increases, and the image is blurred. There is also no stabilization provided; the vibrations of a bicycle or snowboard will be captured on video - a very unpleasant effect of a jerky picture.

The case has a built-in microphone for recording sound with a sampling frequency of 96 kHz. You can quickly listen to the recording through the built-in speaker. Unfortunately, the membrane catches wind and extraneous noise, resulting in a “dirty” sound. Before publishing a video, it is recommended to overlay a track from another source to avoid embarrassment.

Taking a photo - frame in resolution up to 4K

The YI action camera can work as a camera, with a maximum image resolution of up to 4608×3456 pixels—slightly larger than a full 4K frame. Suitable for printing on A4, but not up to A3. Photos in bright light are clear and high quality. A wide-angle lens captures both a group of tourists at a rest stop and a panorama of the river valley.

The time lapse mode with intervals of 0.5-60 seconds allows you to film slow processes - the movement of the sun, clouds over the city or the growth of mushrooms.

The self-timer makes it possible to film a group of tourists without forgetting the cameraman. If the camera is on a tripod, the set interval of 3 to 15 seconds is enough for everyone to gather in front of the lens.

With the Xiaomi Yi 2 action camera, the Chinese company Xiaomi has once again proven that it can take the best and develop its own improved version, but cheaper.

Xiaomi Yi 2 Camera - Reviews

In this case, with the new sports camera Xiaomi Yi 2, the Chinese manufacturer has released an action camera, which, according to it, is no different from the GoPro 4. Let's find out if this is true?

Characteristics of Xiaomi Yi 2

  • Sensor: Sony IMX377,
  • Processor: Ambarella A9SE75,
  • Lens: F2.8, 160th,
  • Battery 1400 mAh 3.8V,
  • Touch screen: 2.19 inches (640 x 360, 330PPI)
  • FOV: F2.8 - 155 degrees,

Permission:

  • 4K (3840 x 2160) - 25 frames per second (FPS),
  • Ultra 4K (3840 x 2160) – 25 frames per second (FPS),
  • 5K (2560 x 1920) - 25 fps,
  • 1440 (1920 x 1440) – 25 FPS / 50 FPS,
  • 1080 (1920 x 1080) – 25 FPS / 50 FPS / 100 FPS,
  • 1080 Ultra (1920 x 1080) – 25 FPS / 50 FPS / 100 FPS,
  • 960 (1280 x 960) – 50 FPS / 100 FPS,
  • 720 (1280 x 720) - 200 frames per second (FPS),
  • 720 Ultra (1280 x 720) – 50 FPS / 100 FPS,
  • 480 (848 x 480) - 200 frames per second (FPS).

Excellent touch screen Xiaomi Yi 2

Let's start with the biggest advantage that came with the second version of Yi - the touch screen. In this case, GoPro was equipped with it only in the Silver version.

On closer examination, we find that the screen responds to touch without the slightest delay, using the Yi 2 camera is a real pleasure compared to having to run special applications on other similar devices.

The addition of a screen makes the camera much more versatile, which saves battery in both the camera and the phone, and also changes the way you use the Xiaomi Yi 2.

Previously, I didn't want to check how well the image was captured because it took so much time. Now, simply and easily, I can make selections and change settings on the fly.

Unfortunately, the screen of the Xiaomi Yi 2 is very difficult to read under direct strong light.

Very good photos

Xiaomi's new sensor has a lower resolution (12 vs 16 MP), but it gives a surprisingly detailed experience for a small camera.

Quite often and unfortunately, sun glare gets in, and the algorithms work very aggressively in low light conditions.

The Xiaomi Yi 2's camera is thankfully free of the focus hassle that plagued many of its predecessor models. Sometimes I had to open the case and adjust the lens. Now everything works perfectly, from the moment I took the gadget out of the box.

Available modes include shooting (up to 10 frames per second), as well as the ability to take still photos while recording video, but only at 2.5K resolution.

In the settings you can disable fisheye mode for both photos and videos.

Xiaomi Yi 2 video quality

The video from the Yi 2 camera can be briefly assessed as decent. It's quite detailed and the colors are rich thanks to its unique dynamic range. Unfortunately, you may see a lot of aberration.

Xiaomi Yi 2 also allows you to set the shooting time, recording at tempo, or slow motion 120 frames per second, but only in HD.

Unfortunately, the image stabilization was very disappointing. It drips with every movement, making stabilization almost useless.

Battery Xiaomi Yi 2

Continuous recording:

  • 4K Ultra: 1 hour 52.5 minutes,
  • 5K: 2 hours 8.7 minutes,
  • Ultra Full HD: 2 hours 20 minutes.

I'm very pleased with the Yi 2's 1400 mAh battery. The earlier model was not able to last a day on a single charge. Here I was able to do it without any problems.

Almost two hours of recording at the highest resolution is an excellent result, almost twice as long as the GoPro 4 Black. If someone doesn't have enough, you can buy a spare battery and easily replace it.

Disadvantages of Xiaomi Yi 2

Until now, almost all the time I praised new camera from China, but it is certainly not perfect.

  1. Firstly, from time to time, strange errors occur, for example. When displaying a white image in picture mode while video mode works fine.
  2. Secondly, the camera does not support SD cards with a capacity of 128GB or more, which means that the maximum is 64GB, which can only contain 2.5 hours of 4K video.
  3. Thirdly, there is only one button on the case, so if you want to switch the mode, you must remove the camera from the case.
  4. Fourthly, although the application itself works very well with the Xiaomi Yi 2 camera, I would add the ability to change it, since all the texts look like they were copied from the translator.

Accessories Yi 2

For testing, I had a waterproof case, and everything always worked in it without problems. To take selfies, I was also provided with a stick (monopod) made by Xiaomi, which can be easily unfolded, locked and shortened.

Is it worth buying Xiaomi Yi 2?

The action camera market is getting tougher. Sony, TomTom and Garmin have recently introduced interesting models of their cameras, some even record sound underwater. GoPro has always been the leader in this class, which unfortunately has led to high prices for their cameras. The Dearest Black version costs 530 euros, a slightly weaker version, but equipped with a screen, costs 430 euros, and the cheapest currently sells for 220 euros.

In the same time:

The Xiaomi Yi 2 camera gives you high-quality videos and photos, just like the GoPro Silver 4 version for 26,000, but its price is 16,000 rubles.

If this is your first action camera, I advise you to take a closer look at Yi 2, you will not regret the money spent. But if you want razor-sharp images, I recommend looking at the GoPro 4 Black.

The Xiaomi Yi Action Camera Travel action camera is specially designed for all fans of extreme sports and people leading an active lifestyle. The device's parameters allow it to be used in almost any shooting conditions and guarantee the production of vivid and memorable videos. In our review, you'll find out what this model is capable of and why it's called the "little GoPro killer."

Rich equipment

Despite the modest design of the packaging, which is gray cardboard box, there is an impressive set inside.

In addition to the camera itself, the user will find a microUSB-USB cable, instructions in Chinese and, most importantly, a proprietary monopod, thanks to which it is possible to create high-quality selfies. The length of the monopod is 71 centimeters, and the presence of an auto-start option significantly expands the photography possibilities.

Appearance and design features

The device amazes with its size, because the dimensions are only 21.2x60.4x42 mm, i.e. a little more than usual matchbox. The body is made entirely of durable plastic that can withstand minor mechanical loads.

On the front side there is a wide-angle lens, next to it there is an on/off button, which is also used to select shooting modes. There is an indicator light around the button that shows the battery charge level. If blue is on, then the battery is 50-100% charged, lilac - 15-49%, red indicates a critical charge level (0-14 percent).

On the back there are two covers. The first hides a battery with a capacity of 1100 mAh, and under the second there is a slot for a microSD memory card, microUSB and mini-HDMI connectors. But there is no screen in the Xiaomi YI Action Camera Travel action camera, since all control of the device and its settings are carried out through a proprietary application.

On the top edge there is a start/stop button for recording video or taking photos. There is an indicator next to it that lights up red during shooting. There is also a microphone on top.

The Wi-Fi power key is located on the left side, and there is also a status indicator next to it.

There is a special threaded hole at the bottom for attaching additional accessories, including a monopod. With its help, you can mount the camera on a helmet, bicycle, motorcycle, quadcopter and other equipment.

What's inside

Surprisingly, Xiaomi developers managed to put solid “filling” into a miniature case, which guarantees high-quality photo and video files. This:

  • 16 megapixel Sony Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor with f/2.8 aperture. It allows you to receive video in FullHD format at a speed of 60 fps, and if 960p resolution is used, the speed indicators already increase to 120 fps;
  • Ambarella A7LS GPU, which is considered one of the best microprocessors for solving image processing tasks;
  • 155° wide-angle lens with aspherical lenses, the use of which allows you to take fantastic panoramic photographs;
  • Built-in motion filter and 3D noise stabilizer, which are responsible for clear video even in strong shaking conditions.

And with the help of H.264 encoding, each frame is recorded correctly and clearly. Video recording is possible in four modes: normal, while driving, while moving high speed and at maximum acceleration.

Management organization

As mentioned above, the YI Action Camera Travel Edition is not equipped with a screen, so setup is done through a special application for YI action cameras. It installs quickly and easily on your smartphone. To synchronize with the camera, you need to activate Wi-Fi on it, and press the Connect button in the program. All further operations are performed automatically; upon completion, the device settings menu will appear on the display.

After this, the user can not only take photos and shoot videos in real time, but also perform the following actions:

  • Determine the quality and standard of recording;
  • Make a time stamp;
  • Select photography modes;
  • Perform data backup;
  • Perform preview, i.e. view a panorama of the upcoming shooting;
  • Post your photos and videos on the Internet, etc.

Main characteristics

Is YI Action Camera Travel Edition worth buying?

Using the device, you can create expressive photographs and clear and bright videos. Miniature dimensions combined with powerful hardware make the device one of the best in its class, and the ability to use various accessories, including an aquabox, significantly expands the scope of its application. And one more nice bonus– the cost of the product is significantly lower in comparison with similar models from other manufacturers, while in terms of workmanship, Xiaomi products are in no way inferior to their main competitors.

Xiaomi Yi Action Camera (Basic Edition) Review: GoPro “Killer”

The tech world is abuzz about the Xiaomi Yi Action Camera.

This is the first brainchild in the video camera niche of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer.

The moniker most often used in these rumors is the GoPro Killer, but is it really justified?

For a long time, this niche was occupied only by a few proven manufacturers, including Olympus and Sony.

But it's time for a change. Xiaomi released their device in this segment.

Camera on a budget

Xiaomi Yi Action Camera is a low-budget camera.

By purchasing it, the user gets the opportunity to record video in 2K format and create 16 megapixel photos.

The inevitable popularity of this copy was preceded by massive advertising, paid press releases and publications by bloggers.

Many noted that for such a brand the price is simply minimal.

Xiaomi Yi Action Camera is a lightweight video camera; it records video in Full HD format with a resolution of 30 and 60 fps.

In addition, it can take 16 megapixel photos.

Its big advantage is its price.

Yi cameras come in two different versions:

  • Standard (Basic edition)
  • For travelers (Travel)

The only difference between these revisions is that in the Travel package, the user receives a very neat one.

It doesn't creak, doesn't fall apart, and looks very stylish.

Specifications

  • Lens: 16MP CMOS F2.8 155° wide angle
  • Sensor: Sony Exmor R BSI CMOS 16 million pixels
  • Dimensions: 6 x 2.1 x 4.2 cm / 2.36 x 0.83 x 1.65 inches
  • Memory: Micro SD, cards up to 64GB supported
  • Video system: PAL, NTSC
  • Video format: MP4
  • Sound: 96KHz 2 channels, 92dBA noise reduction system
  • Battery 1010mAh
  • Charger: USB when connected to a PC or via the included AV adapter
  • Modules: Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi
  • Photo format: JPEG
  • Selfie Timer: 1-15 sec
  • Time interval: 0.5/1/2/5/10/30/60 sec

Even at first glance, we can say that the characteristics look impressive.

And the developer offers all this to potential buyers for only $89

Equipment

As soon as you open the box of Xiaomi Yi Action Camera, this is what you get:

  • 1x Xiaomi Yi Action Camera
  • 1x USB to microUSB cable (used for charging and syncing with PC)
  • 1x 1100 mAh battery

Design

Many adherents of this gadget often call the Xiaomi Yi Action Camera the “Chinese Apple”.

Their directors are named as follows. The same pedantry, the same attention to detail.

Parallels are often drawn between these two personalities.

The minimalistic approach is visible even in a simple cardboard box.

The USB cable and battery are neatly packed in an inconspicuous compartment.

When it comes to color choice, the device comes in three colors:

  • Green
  • White
  • Black

It's a shame, but I wish there was more variety in the color selection.

The brightest among them is green.

White looks simple and is suitable for those who prefer minimalism.

But it’s worth saying right away that this is a very easily soiled color, so be prepared to wipe your pet frequently.

And connoisseurs of strict forms and classics will certainly choose a black set.

It's quite solid and feels like it's made from quality materials both inside and out.

This sets it apart from cheaper analogues.

Main disadvantage

The company sacrificed functionality by abandoning the LCD screen.

Yes, for many this is a significant drawback, but it is worth noting that such a detail can significantly increase the cost of the camera.

There is now a solution for connecting external LCD displays.

In addition, you can connect an external battery, which will double the recording time.

All settings in the camera can only be changed when connected to a computer.

So before you start using it, you need to download it, connect the camera to your PC and configure it.

You can, of course, use the camera this way, but all the functionality will not be available.

Dimensions and weight

The device measures 60.4mm x 21.2mm x 42mm and weighs only 72 grams when fully assembled.

They are a little heavier than similar camcorders, especially when compared to the SJ4000 and SJCAM M10.

Lens and sensors

The Ambarella A7LS is responsible for photo processing; in the kit, the user receives a Sony Exmor R BSI CMOS 16 MEGA Pixels sensor and an ST 3-Axis G-sensor.

Buttons and ports

The camera does not have many buttons and ports; you can figure them out in the first 10-15 minutes.

Buttons, Ports and LED Indicators

  • The button on the front is the power on/off button. Allows you to turn the camera on or off, and also switch modes.
  • The button on top is the shutter button, when pressed it will take a photo or start/stop video recording.
  • On the side there is a button that turns WiFi on/off
  • 1/4″ Tripod port
  • Micro SD card slot
  • USB port (charging, connection to PC)
  • HDMI port (for transferring images and videos to TV)
  • Battery clamp (press to open battery compartment)

Indicators

  • LED indicators (indicate whether recording is in progress) this moment or not. The round indicator changes color as the battery drains)

Video

The colors look quite natural. The images are decent and much sharper than the video. Even when the camera is turned on directly in the sun, the colors do not darken.

The 16-megapixel CMOS sensor from Sony ensures that you get quality photos even on a bright sunny day.

Many analogues produce a darker image. The Xiaomi Yi Action Camera has very natural brightness.

Time-lapse photography

The camcorder has a time-lapse mode. This setting can be set via the application.

Basically it allows your device to continuously take photos at an interval that you set. You can set the time interval to 0.5/1/2/5/10/30/60 seconds.

For example, you can set the time period to 5 seconds (this is the time that is used most often).

I would like the camera itself to take frame-by-frame photos from your photos, but unfortunately this option is not provided.

If you look at it technically, you can set the indicator to 2 hours (10800 seconds) and set the shooting interval to 10 seconds.

At 1080p 60 fps, you will get 18 seconds of time-lapse video. It's not as difficult as it sounds, you can see plenty of video tutorials on YouTube on how to create this kind of video.

Self-timer

Single shooting and self-timer are different functions. Frame-by-frame is a constant number of photos.

The camera will work continuously for a set interval of time, and the self-timer takes just one photo after a certain period of time.

The timer allows you to set a delay before taking one single photo.

This is a useful option for group photos, where you can place the Yi Action Camera on a stand and it will automatically take the photo.

Timer can be set to 3, 5, 10 and 15 seconds

Snapshot

Snapshot is probably the least useful feature for any photographer.

Using the Snapshot function, you can create a short animation with a ridiculous resolution of 640 x 480 / 4:3 / 30p.
