The annual growth of Leroy Merlin reaches 20%. According to the head Russian division company V. Zhanti, within 2 years the number of hypermarkets in the network will reach hundreds, and this moment there are 60 shops. Such pace necessitates a serious approach to the storage, warehousing and distribution of products, so the distribution center is a vital necessity for a retailer in the Russian Federation. Leroy Merlin decided to build another distribution center on its own in order to comply with technological nuances and adapt the building to the company's non-standard operating conditions.

The largest distribution center was put into operation on 10/01/2016, at the moment the storage areas are filled with products. So far, 70% of the territory is free. By the beginning of February 2017, the online store is expected to move to the distribution center, and then all logistics processes will work in full force. Today, the warehouse serves one and a half hundred cars daily, in the near future this figure will grow to 500.

There are several reasons why the management of Leroy Merlin decided to build a warehouse on their own, without resorting to the services of lessors. First of all, this is the use of the cross-docking system, when goods are unloaded and loaded onto trucks without long-term storage. This approach speeds up delivery and saves storage space, but requires the construction of a special through passage. Another reason for self-construction was the specificity of cargo, which does not fit into the standard dimensions of the buildings offered for rent. And some goods can only be stored and processed in specialized areas. These are products corresponding to the third level of danger, which includes a range of paints and solvents.

The distribution center is open 24/7. At the entrance, vehicles are unloaded, and on the other hand, goods are unloaded for outlets. When delivering products to hypermarkets, trucks are used that can hold 20 tons. In the transportation of online orders, gazelles have proven themselves well. All transport is rented.

S. Shulgin, head of the quality sector of logistics processes at Leroy Merlin Russia, explained that after the launch of the distribution center, the number of vehicles delivering goods to one hypermarket will decrease by 5 times. It is more convenient for a retail outlet to receive one truck from a distribution center than 10 cars from different manufacturers. Moreover, a twenty-ton transport can carry about 28 pallets, and only 15 suppliers' vehicles. At the moment, the distribution network cooperates with 600 suppliers. The largest of them deliver products to retail outlets on their own. Knauf (a supplier of building materials) delivers approximately three cars to each hypermarket every day. It is advisable to bring such volumes immediately to the store, without intermediate storage.

IN Russian Federation Leroy Merlin uses four distribution centers, two of which are of federal importance (they also serve Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kaliningrad). These distribution centers are located near Domodedovo and in Dmitrov. There are two more regional sites (Novosibirsk, Samara).

The warehouse, which opened in October, has seventeen dock gates and a ramp for unloading goods with non-standard dimensions. The capacity of the distribution center allows satisfying the needs of 75 outlets in the region. The free part of the center is ready to receive an online store, the assortment of which today is 16,000 commodity items. However, the planned move will allow it to expand to 30,000. The assembly of products for the store will be done manually. About 4 orders are placed in one car for delivery. If the volume of online sales grows, then logistics processes can be optimized. At the first stage, all products will be delivered from the distribution center, and in the future they will be shipped from outlets closest to the customer in order to reduce delivery time.

The investment portfolio, which was necessary for the construction of the distribution center, amounted to about 5 billion rubles. total area Domodedovo warehouse - 100,000 "squares", more than 700 employees work here. This distribution center is the largest among storage facilities"Leroy Merlin" in the Russian Federation and European countries. And the company began its activities with the lease of a small warehouse in Khimki, the area of which was only 3,000 "squares".

Andrey Vorobyov, Governor of the Moscow Region, laid a capsule in the foundation of the new distribution center Severnaya Zvezda of the Leroy Merlin company in the Dmitrovsky city district. The solemn ceremony was also attended by General Director of Leroy Merlin Vostok LLC Vincent Genty and Managing Director of PNK Group developer Evgeniy Skaridov.

“It is well known that foreign companies, who come to our territory, conscientiously, regularly pay taxes, and this is important both for the municipality and for our large territory. I want to wish you not to stop there. You said that you now have 85 stores in Russia, and the plan is 200. It's nice that these large comfortable stores are growing not only in the Moscow region, but also in other parts of our country, ”Andrey Vorobyov said.

Vincent Genty, Director General of Leroy Merlin Vostok, in turn, noted that the Moscow Region always assists the company in development.

The Severnaya Zvezda automated warehouse complex will become the company's largest logistics facility in Russia. Together with the distribution center in Domodedovo South Gate Park, it will supply all Leroy stores in Russia and Kazakhstan. The service sector will include about 1.3 thousand suppliers.
