Exhibition of agricultural achievements in Gum. Exhibition of Agricultural Achievements in Gum Events at VDNKh

Since its formation (back in the pre-war period of the last century), this exhibition center has become one of the most beloved and recognizable places in the capital - both for its residents and for guests from all over the country. One of its main distinguishing features were the exhibition pavilions, which were truly amazing architectural structures in both beauty and form. Most of them have survived to this day, little changed on the outside, although significantly dilapidated. True, restoration and restoration work just began this year. Some of the previous original pavilions turned out to be either completely rebuilt, or (according to the exhibition center employees) hidden under a new sarcophagus lining, which means there is still a chance that they will someday be restored. These include “Medicine”, “Computer technology”...

In previous years, the Moscow "Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy" was considered the most important and representative in the country. In the minds of most Russians, it remains the same today.

The Exhibition of National Economic Achievements is considered one of the most popular places in Moscow. More than 20 million people visit it annually. In Russia, this is the largest museum-exposition. The territory includes pavilions, fountains, park areas, ponds and monuments. In total there are 49 objects recognized as cultural heritage.

The total area of VDNH with Ostankino Park is 317 hectares.

Opened in August 1939, the Exhibition changed its appearance and content. During its existence, it was repeatedly renamed: VSKhV, VPV, VDNKh USSR, All-Russian Exhibition Center. In 2014, electronic voting was carried out and the place was returned to its former name VDNKh. Also this year, work began on reviving the exhibition.

Hotels and hostels located in close proximity to the park can accommodate tourists from different cities of the world. The cost of living depends on the level of comfort of the rooms.

Skating rink at VDNKh

In winter, VDNH opens skating rinks for children and adults. You can come here any day except Monday and go ice skating. Every year the theme of New Year's decorations changes, but the skating rinks at VDNKh still remain the largest in Russia.

In the 2018-2019 season, VDNKh operates two large skating rinks, “Tsvetnik” and “Raketa”. And also a small children's skating rink.

Their names correspond to the chosen location. The Flower Garden skating rink is located between the Stone Flower and Friendship of Peoples fountains. And the Raketa ice platform is poured around the Vostok launch vehicle on Industry Square.

Skating rink "Flower garden"

In the very center of VDNKh there is the Tsvetnik skating rink. The organizers tried to convey the festive mood to its visitors as much as possible, decorating it with giant installations in the form of Christmas tree balls. As before, skating takes place with musical accompaniment. Due to its size, it can accommodate up to 1,200 people at a time.

The area of the Tsvetnik skating rink at VDNKh is 4,500 square meters.

The Tsvetnik skating rink is more suitable for families, as next to it there was a separate area of 900 square meters for children from 3 to 8 years old.

For those who are skating for the first time or do not know how to skate, there are special support structures. They are made in the form of small carriages of the Sapsan train. It is also possible to order an additional service and undergo training with an instructor.

The children's and main skating rinks have separate ticket offices, warm locker rooms and skate rentals. Figure, hockey or children's models can be rented for adults and young visitors. Skating rink "Rocket"

The second skating rink is made in a space theme. Its highlight was a huge model of the Vostok rocket. The skiing here is faster than the previous ones. Most often it is visited by young people. For them, the organizers organize themed parties with music and animation on the ice rink. The Raketa skating rink is much more spacious and can accommodate twice as many people - 2,400 people.

The area of the Raketa skating rink at VDNKh is 8,600 square meters.

The infrastructure of the Raketa skating rink includes one general skating circle, several entrance pavilions and four warm cafes. Like the other skating rink, there is a first aid station nearby for safety reasons. There are also eight training instructors.

The exhibition was rebuilt several times. The pavilions were demolished and rebuilt to please the new government. Under Khrushchev, the Exhibition territory became a battlefield for two superpowers. From the history of VDNH pavilions...

The publication of materials that we offer is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy. It is represented by the design documentation of the organization GIPRONISELKHOZ of the Ministry of Agriculture of the USSR, which was deposited in the RGANTD (fund No. R-575).

The documents were developed in the 1960s - 1970s. as a result of the design of individual livestock pavilions for their further reconstruction and re-equipment.

The decision to create an agricultural exhibition was made at the Second All-Union Congress of Collective Farmers-Shock Workers, held on February 17, 1935.

On the same day, the Decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR and the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks “On the organization of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition in Moscow” was issued. The exhibition was planned to be located in the Ostankino Park area near the Yaroslavskoye Highway on the territory of the village of Alekseevskoye, which was part of the city.

People's Commissar of Agriculture of the USSR M.A. was appointed chairman of the committee for organizing the exhibition. Chernov, and the chief architect, based on the results of the All-Union competition of projects for planning and architectural solutions of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition, became V.K. Oltarzhevsky On April 21, 1936, the master plan of the All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition, developed by him with the participation of other architects, was approved.

In 1938, architect S.E. was appointed chief architect of the All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition. Chernyshev is the author of the 1935 Moscow master plan, who continued the work on creating the exhibition. Under his leadership, talented architects V.A. Shchuko, V. Geilfreich, L.M. Polyakov, D.N. Chechulin, outstanding sculptors S.T. Konenkov, G.I. Motovilov, monumental artists A.A. Deineka, A.P. Bubnov, P.P. Sokolov-Skalem created the architectural ensemble of the All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition, which was based on the palace and park principle of construction. The ensemble united 250 buildings, a cascade of ponds, parks, and experimental plots with a total area of 136 hectares. Many of the exhibition's open pavilions demonstrated the results of agricultural development, including livestock breeding.

A thirteen-meter sculpture depicting a tractor driver and a collective farmer raising a sheaf of wheat above their heads by sculptors R.N. Budilova and A.A. Strekavina, installed on a column near the Main Pavilion, became the emblem of the All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition.

The exhibition pavilions resembled palaces, had a pompous appearance and reflected the victorious spirit of the era. Dozens of monuments and sculptures were installed on its territory. At the entrance to the All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition there was a twenty-four-meter sculpture “Worker and Collective Farm Woman,” made of stainless steel, which was a copy of the sculpture created by V.I. Mukhina for the international exhibition in Paris, and decorated the Soviet pavilion at it.

The grand opening of the All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition, which took place on August 1, 1939, was a national event.

After the start of the Great Patriotic War, VSKhV was closed. The exhibits were transferred for storage, and subsequently the exposition and exhibition library were evacuated to Chelyabinsk.

Three years after the end of the war, in accordance with Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 3993 of October 25, 1948 “On the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition,” it was decided to resume the exhibition from 1950.

The opening of the exhibition in 1954 was preceded by its reconstruction, carried out from 1950 to 1954 under the leadership of academician of architecture of the USSR, professor, chief architect of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition A.F. Zhukov, who developed the master plan for the exhibition together with R.R. Clicke, and sculptor E.V. Vuchetich. The artistic appearance of the exhibition during this period was greatly influenced by its main artist V.N. Yakovlev.

More than 70 pavilions were reconstructed and rebuilt, including the pavilions of the Baltic republics, annexed by the Soviet Union in 1940. Many of the old pavilions were significantly rebuilt or redesigned in a more elevated style. The exhibition area increased to 207 hectares.

Two fountains were created on the squares - “Friendship of Peoples”, the sculptural composition of which represents figures of collective farmers from different republics of the USSR leading a festive round dance in national costumes, and “Stone Flower”, the motif of the sculptural composition of which was the works of the famous Russian storyteller Pavel Bazhov. In the depths of the exhibition complex, a third fountain was created - the “Golden Ear”.

The entrance to the exhibition area was designed in the form of a triumphal arch by architect L.M. Polyakov, sculptor G.I. Motovilov, on top of which were installed figures of a tractor driver and a collective farmer.

The entire VSHV complex was designed in the pompous and solemn style characteristic of post-war Stalinist architecture, with rich decorative design of the pavilions and various stylizations. Architectural trends were used in a number of buildings: stylization, eclecticism and decoration. The pavilions resembled palaces and temples. The architectural appearance of the All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition in 1939 was changed.

In new or reconstructed pavilions, the exhibition told about the successes of various republics and regions, but there were also pavilions dedicated to the achievements of individual sectors of the national economy, including livestock pavilions. The main objective of the exhibition remained the broad promotion of agricultural achievements and the rapid introduction of advanced experience into collective and state farm production.

Landscape construction at VSKhV was carried out in parallel with the construction of pavilions. The best landscape architects and craftsmen of the country took part in it.

In June 1956, the All-Union Industrial Exhibition began its work on the territory of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition, the main objectives of which were to demonstrate the achievements of the industry. On May 28, 1958, the Council of Ministers of the USSR adopted a resolution on the unification of agricultural and industrial exhibitions, as well as construction, located on the Frunzenskaya embankment, and on their basis the creation of the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy of the USSR (VDNKh USSR). This led to a change and expansion of the exhibition's theme and the construction of new pavilions. On June 16, 1959, the opening of the new VDNKh complex of the USSR took place.

On April 18, 1963, the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Council of Ministers of the USSR adopted a resolution on restructuring the work of VDNH of the USSR on a sectoral basis.

Now the pavilions represented various areas of the national economy of the USSR. Due to this, the architectural integrity of the VDNKh ensemble was violated. Some of the pavilions dedicated to various industries retained their status, while the pavilions of the Union republics were repurposed and began to represent various areas of the national economy of the USSR. This caused enormous damage to the integrity of the architectural ensemble of the All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition, as many pavilions lost their rich decoration, lush buildings with columns and sculpture gave way to buildings with simplified forms.

After the transition to the industry principle of displaying achievements, unique decorative elements were removed from the republican pavilions, their facades and interiors were reconstructed and simplified, and some of the pavilions were demolished.

Exhibition activities began to be built on a production-industry principle. The goal was the speedy introduction of new technology and modern working methods. On the basis of thematic exhibitions, experience was exchanged and workers from all industries were trained.

In 1965-1967 a new reconstruction of the exhibition was carried out. The subsequent changes in architectural styles greatly changed the previous appearance of the exhibition of 1939-1954.

In 1986, reconstruction of the USSR Exhibition of Economic Achievements began according to the design of architects A.V. Bokova and I.M. Vinogradsky, but it remained unimplemented.

Currently, new pavilions continue to be built, and since 2013, reconstruction of old ones and improvement of the territory of VDNKh have been carried out.

The livestock complex of the All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition - VDNKh of the USSR, which united several pavilions, represented an entire direction in the development of the national economy and was one of the most popular sections of the exhibition over all the years of its existence. Achievements in the main branches of livestock farming were exhibited here - pig breeding, sheep breeding, horse breeding, cattle breeding, rabbit breeding, etc. In the center of the complex there was an indoor arena and an open hatching circle where animals were demonstrated.

In the livestock pavilions of the exhibition, which were often palace buildings with columns or pilasters, carved arches and bas-reliefs, not only technological equipment was demonstrated, but also living exhibits. Here cows constantly mooed, plump sows with litters of piglets grunted.

In addition, the pavilions displayed poster visual material about the achievements of collective and state farms in livestock breeding.

In 1939-1941. in the livestock town of the All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition there was a complex of temporary wooden pavilions built according to the design of the architect A.O. Kolesnichenko.

During the reconstruction of the exhibition in 1949-1954. the livestock town was rebuilt from brick according to the design of A.O. Kolesnichenko and G.G. Savinova.

Large and small cattle of almost all breeds existing in the country, more than 30 breeds of pigs and several thousand heads of poultry of all types were kept on its territory.

The livestock pavilions at VDNKh were large rooms equipped with monumental portals. These were entire complexes of buildings intended for keeping animals, which included feed shops, as well as open-air enclosures, etc.

For the opening of the exhibition after reconstruction in 1954, many breeds of animals were brought from all over the country for livestock pavilions and enclosures: cattle, pigs, poultry, etc. The best animals were brought to the exhibition - record holders and giants.

Living record-breaking inhabitants - huge pigs, dairy cows, thoroughbred horses - were demonstrated on a hatching circle resembling a small stadium. At the exhibition, specialists could get acquainted with the latest developments in the field of raising and keeping animals and exchange professional experience.

VSKhV specialists carried out extensive scientific, educational and cultural work. Seminars were held in the pavilions, lectures were given, popular science, documentaries and feature films were shown in specially equipped rooms and cinema halls.

The publication presents RGANTD documents on the reconstruction and re-equipment of the pavilions “Animal Husbandry”, “Rabbit Breeding and Fur Farming”, “Cattle” and “Reproduction of Farm Animals”, developed by GIPRONISELKHOZ in the 1960s - 1970s.

The Livestock Pavilion was built in 1939 according to the design of the architect P.P. Revyakina. The architecture of the building featured white stucco wall and column decorations, completed with sculpted capitals and a rich cornice decorated with high reliefs of animal heads. Garlands of fodder vegetables and herbs were also used in the sculptural decoration of the façade. The façade was crowned with a high attic with figures of livestock breeders.

The architect of the new pavilion building in 1954 was V. Margulis. Addition to the building in 1963-1964. was carried out by architects M.A. Sadovsky, M. Geifman. In 1967, the building was completely reconstructed according to the design of architect L.I. Braslavsky and transferred to the exhibition on electrification.

The publication presents working drawings of the architectural and construction part of the technical working project for the re-equipment of the pavilions and the livestock feeding workshop, developed by the enterprise in 1966-1968:

    technological scheme of pneumatic transportation of feed to the fattening pigsty;

    layout plan of technological equipment;

    installation of auger No. 3 with a drive;

installation of a digester - mixer and chamber feeder 203-42.

In addition, the publication includes a photo of the pavilion building, taken in 1954. The value of the document lies in the fact that in 1967, during the reconstruction of VDNH of the USSR, the pavilion building was demolished and a new one was built on its foundation for the exhibitions of the Electrification pavilion.

The Rabbit Breeding Pavilion was created in 1939 according to the design of architects A.I. Zaitsev and I.S. Telyatnikov and sculptors E.S. Snigirya, N.I. Rozova, V.A. Vatagina. In 1954, the pavilion was reconstructed according to the design of the same architects.

The main facade of the pavilion is a historical and cultural monument of national importance.

In 1966, the pavilion was merged with the “Hunting and Fur Farming” pavilion into the “Rabbit Breeding and Fur Farming” exhibition complex, but in the 1980s. it was returned to its old name and previous exposition.

The publication includes project documents for the reconstruction of the “Rabbit and Fur Farming” pavilion, developed by the enterprise at the “technical specifications” stage in 1968:

The building of the pavilion “Reproduction of Farm Animals” was created in 1953 according to the design of architects A.O. Kolesnichenko and G.G. Savinov. At first, the pavilion “Sheep Breeding 2” was located here. Then the pavilion “Industrial Crops” and “Potatoes and Vegetables”. In 1959, the exhibition “Reproduction of Farm Animals” was opened in the extension to the pavilion, which subsequently occupied the entire building.Currently, the building of the pavilion “Reproduction of Farm Animals” is not used for its intended purpose.

The RGANTD stores documents developed in 1974-1975. for the reconstruction of the poultry house building with the aim of including it in the pavilion complex “Reproduction of Farm Animals”. The documents were developed at the “technical working draft” stage, consisting of architectural, construction, technological, and film technology parts.

The publication presents drawing documents of the architectural and construction part of the technical working project:
