The guarantee and right to return goods ordered on Aliexpress applies to the same cases as in stores around the world:

  1. The goods were not received in full;
  2. The product does not meet the stated characteristics;
  3. The product is defective.

Aliexpress does not provide any warranty for purchased goods, this responsibility rests with the sellers. Before making any purchase, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the terms and warranties of the seller. Sellers with a high rating value their reputation very much and try to fulfill all their warranty obligations so that the client is satisfied not only with the purchase, but also with the service.

The conditions for providing a guarantee are usually the same for all sellers:

  • The warranty period is 12 months;
  • Return shipping costs are borne by the buyer;
  • The warranty covers any problems that are not the fault of the buyer;
  • Seller is not responsible for additional "Free Gift" items.

All issues regarding returns should be resolved directly with the seller. If the issue price is not high, you can negotiate a possible discount on your next purchase, or partial compensation in the form of sending a non-working part for a replacement, or a refund of part of the amount. If you happen to purchase a completely faulty item, send it back and ask for a full refund.

It is easier to solve non-critical problems that arose during operation on your own by contacting a local service center. So, what should we know about buying products on this marketplace?

Let's say you found the product you need, paid for it, and as a result you received either a defective product, or one of poor quality, or one that does not correspond to the description and characteristics at all.

We are faced with a defect, what actions should be taken before and after the purchase.

  1. You shouldn't buy the first product you come across. You need to work with trusted sellers, read all product reviews. It is most important.
  2. You need to pay for your purchase after you are sure that the seller has the desired product. Sometimes it happens that the seller, after you pay for the goods, will purchase it himself and then send it to you. We don't need this.
  3. The opening of the purchased product should be videotaped. This way, you can provide all the evidence that you really bought a low-quality product, and don’t just want to get your money back.
  4. You opened the product and found no flaws. In general, we can say that we made a profitable purchase. But in this case, you should not immediately confirm receipt of the goods, and leave feedback to the seller to celebrate. Let’s say, “use” the purchase a little. Time will definitely prove its quality. If you confirm the product, then that’s it, your money will not be returned to you.
  5. All questions, conflicts, claims must be resolved before the deal is closed, otherwise you will “burn out.”
  6. There is no need to immediately panic if the product turns out to be defective. Write to the seller, upload a video, describe the current situation. If the seller values ​​​​his reputation, you will resolve the issue quite quickly.
  7. Let's say there is little time left before the transaction is closed, and you have not yet resolved the issue, then we urgently open it. Under no circumstances should we delay this.
  8. If there are minor defects on the product that do not play a special role, ask the seller for compensation. Which one exactly, you decide for yourself..
  9. If the seller promises to provide you with compensation only after the dispute is closed, do not believe him under any circumstances! In most cases, after the dispute is closed, the seller begins to ignore his buyer. And here his high rating no longer plays a role. As soon as the dispute is closed, in 99% of cases the seller will begin to delay compensation, and then completely forget about you. The chances that you will come across a 1% seller are very small, so you should not play roulette. Think sensibly and you can make your money back.
  10. If the defect is really serious, we will have to send the goods back to the seller. A reliable seller will give you a choice: either you receive the same product, but without defects, or you simply get your money back. By the way, sending a defective purchase will cost the buyer a pretty penny.
  11. Resolve all issues with the seller exclusively in . There is no need to conduct any personal correspondence. Take pictures or video of the shipment of the goods. There must be a photo of the product itself, a photo of the shipment, as well as a track by which the seller and you can track the location of the defective product. These points will become significant evidence when resolving the conflict.
  12. If you have already closed the deal, and later a defect “surfaces”, then in such a situation you need to write to the seller and explain the current situation. Let's look at the example of one of my orders. We ordered three leggings of different colors, in the end one of them arrived with poor quality seams; the leggings had holes in the seams. This means that they need to be taken to a clothing repair shop in order to give them a marketable appearance.

As a result, a dispute was opened for the entire refund amount. Why all of it? - you ask. Because then the seller is more willing to make contact to resolve this issue. We know from experience that if you start a dispute with sellers over the amount of a few dollars, which is enough for repairs poor quality goods, they still bargain and reduce it. Therefore, it is necessary to escalate the dispute to resolve such issues.

Next, we added 2 photos, in which, in the Paint program, we indicated problem areas with arrows and clicked “Submit.” Please note - the cost of the leggings was $12.41, but we can only request $11.73 due to the fact that immediately before payment the seller made a discount and we actually paid $11.73. And yet, you cannot ask for more than you paid - even if the price for them has risen during this time.

The seller was given 5 days to respond, after which, if he had not responded, the dispute would have been closed automatically.

But on the 4th day, the seller made us a counter-offer, offering us $5 compensation for the defective product or if we want to return the full cost, we must return the leggings to him. Of course, one could disagree with this decision and leave the amount the same or bargain further, but $5 would completely compensate for the cost of the repair.


Therefore, we accepted his offer, thereby closing the dispute.

If the amount offered by the seller does not suit you, correspond with him, edit the terms of the dispute, and ultimately escalate the dispute.

But usually, if a defective order arrives from Aliexpress, the matter does not lead to an aggravated dispute, since sellers value their ratings and try to solve such problems.

Even sellers with very high ratings may not send compensation after the transaction is completed. As a rule, all sellers in such cases simply stop responding to letters from their buyers after they have closed dispute and demand compensation.

In case the defect is serious, the buyer will have to send the goods back to China to the seller. In this case, one of the options will be offered: either an exchange for a similar product, or a refund of the entire amount paid for the product. Shipping of the goods back to the seller is paid by the buyer.

It is better to discuss all questions regarding the return of defective goods in a dispute on. It would also be better to photograph or film the shipment of the goods (photo of the goods being sent, a photo of the parcel with the tracking number and address of the recipient, with a mark from the mail, as well as a shipping receipt), as this can become evidence when sharpened.
