One of the most common situations that I have to deal with in my practice is when the user has the Internet connected, but does not work. Why is this happening?!
The first thing to start looking for a solution to the problem is to reboot all devices associated with Internet access - a router, a computer, etc. Very often this is the result of a small glitch in the operation of one of them and is solved by a simple restart. If it doesn't help, read on!

So, your Internet is not working. How are you connected to it? As a rule, in most cases, the connection is organized through a Wi-Fi router, then see if the Internet access indicator is on or not. For example, on D-Link routers it is made in the form of a globe, on most devices it is simply signed as Internet.

Does not burn? Check the router settings and if everything is in order, call technical support your provider.
But if the indicator glows friendly, then the connection is successful. Check access from other devices - from a tablet, phone or laptop. So you can find out from which side it is worth looking for the cause of the problem. Such cases, when the router connects to the global web and does not distribute the Internet to connected devices, happens once in a thousand. Usually they are associated with a malfunction in its operation and are treated by resetting the settings to the factory settings, followed by a complete reconfiguration. More often, it happens that there is no access from only one of the computers, while everything works fine for others. Then you need to look for the "root of evil" already on it.

If you are connected to the mobile Internet via a USB modem or WiFi module connected to a USB port, then try disconnecting it and reconnecting it. Does not help - switch the gadget to a nearby free port. Windows will reinstall the drivers and you can check again whether access has been granted or not.

If the Internet is connected on your computer or laptop but does not work and you are sure that the reason lies in the wrong settings, then you should perform a few simple operations. Let's start by pinging some popular site. To do this, press the key combination Win + R to open the Run window:

If the router pings, but the node is not on the Internet, then the reason is most likely again in the router or in its settings.
But if the router is not available, this is a reason to delve into the network adapter settings on the computer. But before that, try disabling the antivirus and firewall, as very often they are the cause of most network problems.

It did not help and the Internet is still connected but does not work ?! Well, then again press the key combination Win + R so that the "Run" window appears and enter the command ncpa.cpl.

For many, this article has even helped to cope with most of the problems somehow related to access to the Internet.

But, here we will analyze this topic in more detail and consider all sorts of inconveniences due to which the Internet pumped through the cable does not work. Internet does not work connected via cable or without access to the Internet

Every user who has ever worked at a computer knows that if a yellow triangle appears on the network icon, it means that there are some problems with the connection or it is completely absent. It so happened that users most often encounter this problem when surfing the Internet. So let's start with her.

1. Of course, the first thing I will advise you is the simplest solution to the problem - this is the usual restart of the computer. Perhaps some of this advice will seem strange and stupid, but it is this solution that helps to cope with most problems related to the Internet and not only.

2. Next, we try to pull the cable from the network board, wait a few seconds and insert it back. It should start getting a network address after which the computer will receive an IP and the Internet connection should be restored. If all else fails, don't despair and just move on to the next step.

3. Now, going into network connections, we try to disable " ethernet' and turn it back on. Sometimes this is enough to get rid of the "" icon.

4. If the Internet does not work for you, connected via a cable that connects to the Wi-Fi router on the other side, then in this case we perform the following steps. First, we take out the power (220V) from the router and after a couple of minutes we insert it back, so we will restart the Wi-Fi access point. After that, be sure to restart your computer, everything should work.

I started to encounter a similar problem on my home network, which I haven’t figured out yet, but as a temporary solution I use the option that you just read about.

5. The next thing to check is the settings for obtaining an IP address. Most providers today works with automatic fetch IP, respectively, the same settings should be set in your connection.

We go to " Network Control Center”, click on network adapters and there we find a network connection.

Having opened the properties, connections, as shown below, double-click on the item " Internet protocol IPv4».

There, for normal operation, we need to set the points on the parameter " Automatic acquisition of an IP address". We do the same with DNS servers.

Do not forget to fix all changes by clicking on " OK».

If before that the Internet did not work for you, which was connected via cable, then after setting the necessary parameters everything should be fine.

But, on the other hand, there are quite a few providers that use dedicated IP addresses and static network settings. Usually, if this is practiced, then the connected Internet master notifies the user about this and therefore they, in theory, are aware of all these matters.

So, if you use this type of setup, then you should again go to internet protocol IPv4 and instead of the machine, specify the desired addresses. IP, mask, gateway and other values ​​you can find out from the technical operator. support from your provider.

6. And finally, the problems may be from the provider, so be sure to call them and make sure that their equipment in the house works or not, and also that everything is in order with Internet access.

For the most part, the network is used for scientific purposes - remote control experiments, access to observatories, distributed processing of huge amounts of data and, of course, digital video. The possibility of multicasting opens up almost limitless prospects (within the limits of a reasonable, i.e. general bandwidth networks, of course), so for videoconferencing, as well as regular video broadcasting, the network is used very actively. For example, for distance learning students - broadcasting lectures in real time or from the archive over the network.

And although the coverage area of ​​the Internet2 network is constantly expanding, more and more new networks are pouring into the network, and there are already points of presence in Europe, but, objectively speaking, so far most of the goodies are “with them”. And what about us, in Russia?

And in our country, as already mentioned at the very beginning of this article, the first to announce the commissioning of a network fragment operating on the IPv 6 protocol and having a backbone of 10 Gbit / s was Corbina Telecom. So far, this network segment covers only two backbone nodes of the company and the network of Corbina's client, Nisko. The length of this section of the network is 28 kilometers.

This segment is called "Internet2", although formally it does not yet have access to the rest of the Internet2 network, according to Alexander Malis, vice president of the company, negotiations on this subject are ongoing (are in the final stage), global unification is only a matter of time.

The backbone network speed of 10 Gbps is impressive. The company claims that at this speed, one second is enough to transmit half an hour of high-definition video (HLTV). But here it is worth noting that Corbina connects clients to Internet2 at speeds from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps, i.e. we will transfer the same piece of video in 10 seconds. But let's think about it - a connection from 100 Mbps is the same as the speed in most local office networks ... And no 128 Kbps, and not a bit more!

One cannot but rejoice at the statement of Malis that even now Corbina is ready to accept applications for connecting customers to the Internet2 if they are located inside the Moscow Ring Road (connection within a few months). Plus, the company invests about 30 million dollars to create and develop networks broadband access in 45 Russian regions.

But what about Corbina's existing clients? Now the company has ~1700 clients, their transition to the Internet2 is planned to be carried out in parallel with the connection of new ones. In other words, it is preferable to connect new clients directly to the Internet2, and transfer existing clients to the new network as needed. An incentive to move, apart from high speeds, will be more low price traffic. The full transition, according to the company's forecasts, will be completed within two years (this is a very short time!).

And who will be in the ranks of those happy with new technologies? Here, for us, end users, it is not yet clear - the company relies primarily on corporate clients. Those. according to Malis, those who are willing to pay about $3,000 a month for a channel. Yes, the traffic will be cheap (approximately $5 per gigabyte), but no one promised small volumes :)

Do not forget that new technologies also require new equipment, which has the support of "novelties of the time". Of course, old equipment is not suitable for working with the IPv 6 protocol, in IPv 6 new format packages, new technology routing, built-in multicast, etc. Therefore, customers will have to fork out for new hardware as well. The good news is that most hardware sold after 2003 already has built-in IPv 6 support (or will have it after a device firmware update). Basically here we are talking about routers, since the end computers will only need to install the IPv 6 stack, which is quite simple on both Windows and *nix-like systems (most of these systems support the IPv 6 protocol).

Now about compatibility. We have backward compatibility, i.e. from the IPv 6 space you can see the IPv 4 network ( old internet), but not vice versa. In other words, clients connected to the regular Internet cannot see the Internet2 network. But here it is appropriate to make a clarification - they can see, but not everyone, but only those who are able to set up tunneling in the IPv 6 space using one of the IPv 4 - IPv 6 gateways, for example,. Hurricane Electric provides free access to the IPv 6 space through its gateway, you just need to register, enable support for the IPv 6 stack and configure traffic tunneling accordingly.

Summing up the preliminary results, we can say that Corbina Telecom "quietly and imperceptibly" makes a revolution - the provision of such a service, even to corporate clients, cannot go unnoticed. Definitely Internet2 has finally begun its inexorable spread across Russia. Well, maybe not all over Russia, but where should we start?

It's appropriate to talk about Corbina's plans to widely implement video broadcasting over its Internet2 network (indeed, why not take advantage of the brilliant QoS and multicasting capabilities). Technically, the company prepared in advance - in mid-2004, a non-profit project was opened, which is designed to demonstrate the capabilities of modern high speed connections to the Internet. In other words, from this site you can watch TV channels TVC, STS, REN-TV, RBC-TV, as well as the first channel (although the latter is only within the Corbina Telecom network). Plus listen to the radio station Silver Rain. Note that all this is within the framework of IPv 4, i.e. conventional Internet, you only need a computer on which all transmissions will be shown in real time. Of course, it is very difficult to ensure the quality of service of a stream in the current Internet, therefore, even on high-speed (several megabits) channels, delays and frame drops may appear. But in Internet2, everything is fine with this - QoS is an integral part of the protocol, and multicast can significantly save bandwidth. Therefore, in the new network, television broadcasting will unfold in full force.

Malis noted that Internet2 provides tremendous opportunities for broadcasting on the network. Users will be able to access dozens and even hundreds of channels, and, if desired, create their own TV channel. Also, do not forget about the possibilities of videoconferencing, the ease of deployment of which will be ensured in the new network - this service is already popular on the old Internet, but in the new one it will be approximately the same as a cell phone is now, i.e. standard.

But, despite the optimistic statement in the previous paragraph, the full transition to IPv 6 is a very long process. It is possible that many corporate clients and switch to new technologies, but why is it necessary for those who are satisfied with megabit channels, traffic consumption is ~ $ 500 per month? And you still have to change the entire fleet of switches / routers (because the office has pieces of iron that cost no more than a few hundred dollars?). And with the "home users" class it's even worse - maybe I'm a pessimist, but I can hardly imagine that other providers will transfer their clients to IPv 6 "almost for free" and connect them to the common Internet2 network. No, of course, someday they will transfer and connect, but, in my opinion, this is a long process, much longer than two or three years. Do not forget about the numerous "homelan" class networks, i.e. unification into a single local network several nearby houses in the area…

And yet I would like to end this material on a major note. Therefore, I will give the forecast of Alexander Malis (his personal forecast, as a private person), which he shared during a press conference. The forecast concerns the future of the Internet market in Russia:

- “In the near future we will have two types of Internet (for individuals): unlimited access at a speed of 400–512 Kbps at a price of $15–20 and per megabyte access at a speed of 10–100 Mbps at a price of $3–10 per gigabyte”

Today, we are all heavily dependent on the Internet. And when it does not work, panic immediately sets in, the heart sinks into the heels and life seems meaningless. It may sound funny to you, but for some it is true.

Especially the user is lost when the internet is connected but not working. Today I will tell you why this happens and what to do if this happens to your network.

Why is the internet not working?

If you have an Internet connection, but it does not work, the first step is to find the cause of the problem. To do this, you must restart all devices that are associated with Internet access. This refers to the router, computer and so on. Most often, such a reboot completely solves all problems with the Internet, and it starts working properly. If, after restarting the router and computer, you did not get the expected result, we proceed to the following “treatment” procedures.

Today, most often the Internet is connected by means of WiFi router. If you also have, then you need to check whether the Internet access indicator on the router is on or not. For those users who use a TP-Link router, the Internet access signal is marked with a globe icon. On other routers, this signal is most often signed "Internet".



If the indicator is off, you need to check the router settings. If everything is fine with them, then we call the technical support of our provider and ask why there is no Internet, maybe just repairing the backbone or network.

But, if the indicator is on, then there is a connection and the provider is not to blame. Check internet access on other devices. It doesn't matter what it will be - phone, tablet or other laptop. So you can figure out in which direction you need to dig further to decide this problem. I will say right away that the case when the router is connected to the Internet, which is obviously working well, but at the same time it does not distribute it to other devices, is considered a very rare case. The reason for this problem lies in the failure of the router. It's not hard to fix. You need to reset all settings to standard and reconfigure it again, remember that after resetting, all settings will be lost and the Internet may not work until the router is configured correctly!

Often there are cases when only one device or computer cannot connect to the Internet using a router, and all the rest can easily go out to eat. In this case, you need to look for the cause directly on this device.

If you are connected to the mobile Internet via a USB modem or WiFi module connected to a USB port, then try disconnecting it and reconnecting it. If this does not help, try using a different port to connect. Perhaps a freshly reinstalled driver will help you solve this problem.

Checking Internet Connection in Windows

In the case when the Internet is connected on your PC or laptop, but does not work, and at the same time you are absolutely sure that the reason for this is incorrect settings, then you need to perform a series of procedures that will quickly solve your problem.

You need to start reconfiguring by pinging any popular site. To do this, press the combination "Win + R". This will open the "Run" window.

In the text input field, you need to enter the following "cmd" and click on "OK". If you are not a fan of my site, you can write google. After that, press enter and wait for the result. If everything is fine, then the server will send you something like this:



If the response from the server contains the line "Ping failed to find the nodepec-comp.com. Check the hostname and try again”, then you need to type another command, for example “ping .8.8.8.8”. This is the IP address of the public DNS server from Google, which will always be available. If the computer has access to the external network, then the answer will be the same as in the picture above, but with different numbers after "answer from...".

If the ping goes through the IP address, but it does not open in the browser, then most often this indicates that there is an Internet connection, but the network does not work due to incorrect settings of the network card, namely, the address is not registered or registered incorrectly DNS servers. How to fix this, I will tell a little later.

If you see a different response from the server, then you need to check access to the router. We will also check with the help of ping. You can find out the IP address of the router on the sticker that is pasted with reverse side his corps. Most often, the IP address of routers is "192.168.1.1" or "192.168.0.1". The first address is registered on my router, so I got this response:



If the router pings, but the Internet node does not, then most likely the reason lies again in the settings of the router or in itself.

But if the router is not available for server requests, then there is a reason to get into the settings of the network adapter on the computer. But, before doing this, disable your antivirus and firewall, if any. Sometimes it is these two "comrades" that cause problems with working with the Internet.

If after that the Internet did not work, although there is also a connection, we again press the key combination "Win + R", but now in the "open" field we write "ncpa.cpl."

If you have registered everything correctly, then the Windows network connections window will open. In it you need to find your active connection and right-click on it, then select "properties". In the window that opens, look for the line "IP version 4 (TCP / IPv4)" and double-click on it to open the protocol parameters .

Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". Click OK and check the result in the browser.

If this does not help, then mark the item “Use the following addresses” with a dot. You need to register an IP address from the subnet of your router. I have been with this provider since 2011. Then they had not so many customers, and the service was a little better. After the Internet from MGTS 2Kom, it seemed to me manna from heaven, and the fact that they came on Sunday and repaired their equipment, which was flooded after a downpour in the attic of my house, seemed to me the height of customer focus. They had polite guys working in technical support, who were easy to get through to, and all problems with the non-working Internet were more or less quickly resolved.

Therefore, when I changed my place of residence, I decided to connect again to 2Kom, since the tariff offers from all providers are almost the same in terms of price and speed, and I trusted 2Kom.

And 2 weeks ago my internet stopped working. There is no debt, but a yellow triangle is hanging, that the connection is without access to the Internet. I called tech support. Now there are no direct calls, and first you need to tell your story to the operator, who checks for debts and the fact of accidents on the line, and only then transfers your call to technical support. I realized right away that operators and technical support specialists do not receive any training on how to talk with a client and how not to do it. And their track: all conversations are recorded to improve the service - nothing more than - to be like everyone else. Firstly, every second (and I called there almost every day, because there was no improvement for the whole week) says in a tone that reads: “How you all got me sick” ... Secondly, they often interrupt customer without even apologizing. Thirdly, when the operator switches to technical support, you just hang on the line, and if it is overloaded (or maybe just no one wants to answer?), then the beeps are cut off. There is no automatic notification of how long you have to wait. And you again need to dial the number, tell the operator that the Internet does not work for you, the contract number, and so on several times.

8 days in a row I called technical support, no matter how much I called there, they told me something like this: “I’m looking now, and everything works for me. internal problems"Yeah, the client has nothing to do and no one to talk to.

The first specialist said that my router was broken. Ok, I bought a new router. Does not work.

The second call: everything works for me, your plug is out of order. Crimped the plug. By the way, 2com cooperates with some plug repair company. So their departure costs 600 rubles, and the replacement of the plug is another 300 rubles. Total: 900. Do they go by taxi to the client? Throughout Moscow, couriers take 300, or even less. So when I said that it was expensive, this man called me for another 4 days until I added him to the black list. Plugs do not break now, apparently.

After repairing the plug, the Internet began to fall off less often. But still fall off. And just as suddenly work again. And one more problem - the speed is still not the same. 10 minutes the connection speed stated in the contract, then half an hour - no more than 20 megabits, which Mobile Internet faster. But more often no more than 20, despite the fact that I pay for 70.

I call tech support again.

"But everything works for me. This is your router. This is your plug. This is your computer is broken, go from another, it will work."

"And everything works for me. Router? Plug? Computer? Let's update the admin settings. Well, you see - it works." I hang up and it doesn't work.

"But everything works for me. Router? Plug? Computer? It's your processor that is overloaded. It's your antivirus blocking the connection." Ok, loading - 20%, antivirus disabled and removed. Does not work.

The tenth operator suddenly (!) instead of the catchphrase: "But everything works for me", said: Yes, I see losses and such big ones, but for some reason our system does not recognize the error. Now I will make an application for the exit of the master.

A week passed between this call and the previous ones! For a week, a 2Kom client suffered from a non-working Internet, and they proved to him that everything was working. I don’t believe that only the last operator saw the losses. Or is his name Alexander Sheps, who is a psychic?

But early on, I rejoiced. The nearest departure of the master was possible only after 2 weeks, and even God bless him, that in work time.

Rather, 2Kom has a problem with the masters on the road, since there is such an expectation, and the management asks to make an application for the departure of the master only in the most extreme cases - like lightning hit and half a block without the Internet. Here from here these twists: "And everything works for me".

True, the next day I got a call from a girl from 2Kom, who said in a cheerful voice: We have entered your position, the master will be able to drive up to you tomorrow from so much to so much (also during working hours), can you? Ok, I took time off from work - I'm waiting. No call, no visit, no one. No one came to me to repair the Internet. "Entered the position of the client" - in rasseyski.

After that, I can only say: "Adyes, 2Com".

By the way, then I switched to another provider, and everything works for me with normal speed. But 2COM decided not to leave me alone!!! Their operators regularly called me with attempts to sell a more expensive tariff and Internet TV. Gentlemen, let's already conduct business as human beings, and not as human ancestors. 21st century in the yard. You are an IT company, after all. Never heard of accounting systems? Doing client base? If a person does not pay and does not pay for a long time, does this not suggest that he is not your client anymore? I already had a callus on my tongue to repeat that I am no longer their client and I am dissatisfied with them, and I will not return to them in my life. And she asked me to remove my number from their database. But nothing helped. I also had to blacklist the 2KOM numbers, as well as their cable crimp.
