How to add a buyer to the ebay blacklist. For eBay sellers only. Protection from a negligent buyer. Blocking eBay Buyer

eBay is a great way to make extra money from home, on your own schedule, with all the flexibility to run your business the way you want. Unfortunately, sometimes there are situations where the seller must cancel bids, cancel sales, or even block the buyer. eBay allows you to do all of these things, and some of them can hurt your seller's rating. Make sure you understand the process and consequences of canceling bids, canceling sales, and blocking buyers.

Cancellation of auction offers

There are several reasons why a seller may cancel an order from a potential buyer:

While sellers cannot leave negative feedback for buyers, they can file unpaid merchandise (UPI) that appear in Buyer Claims. If the buyer has too many UPIs, the seller may be reluctant to sell them for fear that they will not pay for the item. An unpaid item is a huge problem for the seller because the case must be filed, then another four days must pass before the case can be closed. Sellers can lose up to a week waiting for the UPI case to be resolved for everyone while their item is essentially out of the market. Therefore, if a seller sees that a buyer has a large amount of UPI, he may not want that buyer to bid on his goods.

Other legitimate reasons for canceling a buyer's application:

  • The bidder will contact you to return from the auction.
  • You cannot verify a member's identity by trying all reasonable contact methods.
  • You want to end your listing early because your item is no longer available for sale. In this case, you must cancel all bids on your listing before it ends.

How to cancel a bet:

  • Go to the list and click the number of bids (next to the price).
  • Scroll to the bottom of the bet history chart and select the cancel bet icon.
  • You will be redirected to a cancellation form where you will enter the details of the auction and the bids you wish to cancel.

Cancellation of eBay sales

Canceling an eBay sale is actually an eBay no-no unless the buyer asks for it. The buyer can change their mind, and if so, it's perfectly acceptable to cancel the sale. But, if the item is damaged or out of stock, and the seller has to cancel because he can't ship the item, the rejection amount is counted against the seller. Merchants should always be informed of what activities cause "transaction defects" as defects may result in sales limits, suspension or permanent removal account eBay.

To cancel an eBay sale:

Go to My eBay > Sales and find the element.

drop down menu Additional actions select Cancel this order .

Select a reason for canceling and follow the on-screen instructions

Blocking eBay Buyer

Some sellers use the Block Buyer feature a little too liberally. Remember that the person there wants to give you money for an item, so use discretion when blocking them. Sometimes buyers ask strange or unusual questions, but this is really no reason to block them. Once blocked, a person cannot buy anything from you unless you remove the block.

Legitimate reasons for blocking a buyer include:

  • Previous bad customer experience
  • Threatening or offensive messages from the buyer (report it to eBay)
  • Bad review rating
  • Non-payment history

To block another eBay item, go to the Blocked Bidder page and enter your user information.

Before blocking another buyer, canceling a bid, or canceling a sale, consider all of your options. Don't make a quick decision or do something rash that could cost you a sale now or in the future. Take some time and think about it. You've done all the work to get a buyer on your list - don't turn a buyer away too quickly.

To increase your chances of making a sale, you'll usually want as many potential buyers as possible. However, we understand that there may be certain types of buyers you don't want to do business with. To manage who can buy from you, you can use our buyer requirements feature.

Buyers by your requirements can still see your listings, but they won't be able to bid on or buy your items.

You can set buyer requirements to exclude buyers who:

  • Have a delivery address in countries you don't want to ship to
  • Have a history of unpaid items

tip
Even after setting up buyer requirements, you can still allow individual buyers who fall into these categories to buy from you by placing them on your exemption list.

How to set eBay buyer requirements

Here's how to set up your buyer requirements:

  1. Go to Site Preferences.
  2. Decide which requirements you'd like to apply to your listings, and enter any details requested.
  3. To have settings apply to all active and future listings, select Apply above settings to active and future listings. Otherwise your settings will apply only to future listings.
  4. By default, blocked buyers are still able to contact you about your listings. If you don't want buyers blocked by your requirements to contact you, select Don't allow blocked buyers to contact you in Site Preferences (they may still be able to get in touch with you if it's about an existing transaction). Then select Submit.

How to view your Buyer Requirements Activity Log

Your Buyer Requirements Activity Log includes who you blocked, the date they were blocked, and which requirement caused them to be blocked.

To see your Buyer Requirements Activity Log:

  1. In , find Buyer requirements in the Selling Preferences section.
  2. Select show, then Buyer Requirement Activity Log.

Internet policy change eBay auction in relation to sellers, namely the abolition of "NEGATIVE REVIEWS" to buyers, upset the balance and tipped the scales in the direction of buyers. Now, when the buyer acts dishonestly: receives the won lot and demands a refund or, having received the lot, makes unfounded claims leaving a negative review, the seller cannot do anything about it. Yes, of course, you can file an application for arbitration in response, but while the dispute is being considered, a negative review will hang. For a seller with a small turnover, this negative feedback can significantly reduce his confidence index. It is more difficult for sellers from Russia to win a dispute, because. there has been some prejudice on the part of the administration of eBay and PayPal, persistence and irrefutable evidence are needed.

eBay is currently actively recruiting major wholesalers and manufacturers, with a dedicated department headed by newly appointed Vice President Michael Jones (press release 9/15/2010). The auction is becoming more and more like a supermarket, where the BUYER is ALWAYS RIGHT. Only if in a supermarket the supermarket itself or its employees pay for the negligence of the buyer, then in the case of an eBay auction, sellers have to pay. Of course, when the seller is a large manufacturer or wholesaler, the losses are invisible against the general background of profits or a drop of tar in a barrel of rating.

The first question is: How to protect yourself from negligent buyers in order to avoid an unwanted transaction?

1. Remove the bid, but this can be done no later than 12 hours before the end of the lot. (inefficient way)

2. Add the user to your ban list (help eBay). You can block up to 5000 users, while the blocked user will not only be unable to bid on your item, but will also not be able to contact you.

The second question: How to recognize a scammer, a negligent buyer?

1. See what reviews the user has left for other sellers. If there are negative and neutral - this is the first call, you may be on their list. On the other hand, the negative reviews might be legitimate. The method is certainly not the most effective, but it can still help. (click on the eBay ID of the buyer, on the page that opens, click on the "See All Feedback" button, then on the page select the "Feedback left for others" tab - here you will see the reviews that the buyer of your choice left for other sellers (buyers)).

2. Use a search engine, i.e. type in Google, Yandex ... his eBay ID and see if this login is on eBay blacklists or forums.

If such a case happened to you, the buyer deceived you, do not be shy: add it to the ban list, add it to the BlackList eBay, write about it in the forums. In this way, you will help others avoid the same fate, and they, in turn, will help you not fall for the bait of a new scammer by leaving their information.
