Eating from an ordinary white plate is, of course, quite solemn and stylish, if we are talking about a pretentious or simply beautiful restaurant, but at home this idea turns into a dull and boring one. Yes, of course, neat, light, easily combined with other dishes, but ... boring! Let's understand that you can also get tired of bowls - like, for example, from a comfortable but old knitted dress or a trampled pair of shoes. The way out is simple - plate painting! Hand painted plates, which from white will turn into anything, but not pristine. Do not rush to close the page with a sigh if you do not have drawing skills - you can implement a lot of ideas that do not require you to be able to express your thoughts and feelings through paints and brushes. Dots, simple lines, watercolor stains and geometric patterns are available to everyone - let's think about how you can beat them in art do-it-yourself plate painting using acrylic or ceramic paints. Prepare dishes and imagination - and go ahead, we will transfer our imagination to solid media!

1. Painting plates with "watercolor stains"

Painting plates with the technique of watercolor stains always guarantees a completely unpredictable result! You won't have two identical plates, that's for sure. But you will have a few of these that will invariably improve your mood and please the eye. The mechanism of work is very simple and accessible to craftsmen with any level of training: we apply a little paint suitable for decoration on a plate food utensils, add water, shake the plate a little and watch how physics draws fancy patterns and curls for you. At the end, do not forget to let the water dry and fix the paint by heating in the oven at low temperatures.

2. Abstract painting of plates

Abstract patterns - why not an idea? All you need is a few matching paints and a wide brush, and then it's simple: let your creativity run wild, and other instructions, perhaps, are superfluous. Freely move the brush until you understand that the result you like, resonates with your soul, satisfies. At the end - "baking" in the oven, do not forget.

3. Painting plates with "peas"

A plate with polka dots is so cute and touching! And do not say that such dishes are sold in any hardware store - you will never buy such a beautiful and soulful plate that you can make yourself! A design that never seems to go out of style is insanely easy to implement: a palette for convenience, paints, a brush and the right mood - that's all you need to make polka-dot-painted plates settle in your kitchen.

4. Painting plates with geometric patterns

Painting with a special marker

Marker painting is the simplest and most affordable technique for beautifully painting plates. For this method, you need to buy a special porcelain pencil, create a pattern and temper the dishes.

Important! This option is suitable for those who would like to combine subtle and delicate floral designs and large letters.

In order to create a pattern on plates in this way, you will need the following:

  • Porcelain plates with a Chinese-style floral design, with the number of plates equal to the number of letters in the word you are about to write.
  • Black permanent marker.
  • Cardboard for stencils.
  • Pencil.
  • Ruler.
  • Stationery knife.

The sequence of action looks like this:

  • Make a stencil for the letters. To do this, print on cardboard and cut with scissors, choosing the size and font of your choice.
  • Put each stencil on a separate plate, and then circle with a pencil.
  • Color the resulting letters with a permanent marker.

Important! In order not to get out of the edges, it is advisable to use a ruler.

  • Make a second layer to make the color more uniform.
  • The plates are ready, you can decorate the apartment.

The inscriptions on the plate

  2. Decide in which direction you will make the inscriptions. For example, on a saucer to the center from the edges, and on a cup along vertical lines or also in a circle from top to bottom.
  3. Select the desired text for the caption.
  4. Test the marker on paper as it may bleed at first. Write a little on the draft.
  5. Start painting the dishes, calculating the place so that all the desired text fits.
  6. Leave to dry for a day.
  7. After the lapse of time, put the dishes in a cold oven and set the temperature to 150 degrees. When the oven has reached the desired temperature, set the timer for half an hour and leave to bake. Then turn off the oven and let the cookware cool completely before removing it.

Painting with acrylic paints

  • Water-based porcelain paint (for example, Pebeo blue, turquoise, golden paint).
  • Solvent.
  • Brushes.

  1. Degrease the dishes with alcohol so that the paint lays down better.
  2. Place a small amount of each paint color in separate jars.
  3. Add thinner to the paint to create a watercolor effect.
  4. Stir the contents of the jars with wooden sticks.
  5. Apply paint to the plates. Move the brush, creating a wave effect, or draw a small amount of paint into a pipette, squeeze it onto the surface of the dish and twist it so that the paint spreads, creating a unique pattern.
  6. Leave the plates to dry overnight.
  7. After the lapse of time, put the dishes in a preheated oven and set the temperature to 150 degrees. When the oven is at the desired temperature, set the timer for 35 minutes and leave to bake. Then turn off the oven and leave the dishes to cool, then remove them from there.

Important! Such dishes can be used both for decorative purposes and for eating. This paint is safe for human health.

To match the plates, you can arrange cups in the following options:

dot painting

With the help of dot painting, you can create very beautiful decorative plates. Also in this technique, you can decorate the surface of teapots and cups that do not come into contact with food (that is, you can only paint the outer surface).

The work will require the following:

  • Patterns with a pattern.
  • Red copy paper.
  • Scissors.
  • Napkins.
  • Porcelain or ceramic plates, cups.
  • Paint for ceramics (for example, Porcelaine 150).
  • Ball pen.
  • Wooden sticks.
  • Bottle with applicator.

The sequence of work looks like this:

  • Place carbon paper on the surface of the dishes, and a template with a pattern on top.

Important! The paper should be slightly larger than the drawing.

  • Move the drawing with a ballpoint pen, while trying to put more pressure on the pen so that the drawing is imprinted on the surface of the dishes.
  • Pour the paint into the applicator bottle.

Important! If you want a lighter shade of paint, mix it with white paint, mix well, and then pour into a bottle.

  • Using the applicator bottle, start applying paint according to the intended pattern.

Important! If the tip of the bottle becomes clogged with ink, clean it with a pin.

  • Leave to dry for a couple of hours. If there are traces of the pen, remove them with a napkin.
  • Put the dishes in a cold oven and set 150 degrees. After the oven has warmed up to the required temperature, set the timer for half an hour and leave to bake. After the time has elapsed, turn off the oven and leave the dishes to cool, then remove them from there.

For a spot painting of a plate you will need:
  • plain glass plate or ceramic
  • checkered notebook sheet or graph paper
  • scotch
  • scissors
  • acrylic paints - it is best to use a special contour, because. it has a denser texture and it is convenient to squeeze it out of the tube drop by drop

After varnishing, we will have decorative plate, it will no longer be possible to eat from it. If you want to use it in the kitchen, then you need to choose special acrylic paints for baking, varnish is not needed for them.

Master class "Dot painting of a plate":

1) The plate must be thoroughly washed, then thoroughly dry the surface and degrease it - wipe it with acetone or nail polish remover.

2) Now you need to choose a pattern that we will apply to the glass. Beginners can be inspired by examples in world wide web or use the drawings from this master class.

3) We make stencils out of paper and glue them with adhesive tape on a plate. Experienced craftsmen may not use any templates, but draw right out of their heads, but in order for the pattern to be neat and symmetrical, it is better to play it safe.

4) First you need to practice a little on the draft so that the points are even and the same, and you can start painting.

5) We continue to paint the plate acrylic paints adding new colors and making additional stencils as needed.

6) If you see that some point looks “crooked”, you can immediately correct it with a dry cotton swab. If the paint has already hardened, you will have to use a stick soaked in a solvent. In the case of particularly thin points, you can use toothpicks.

7) Our plate is ready!

For lovers folk motives you can try to decorate wooden plates in the technique Khokhloma painting. Unlike the previous one, this is a way for experienced artists!

4) If desired, you can paint over the leaves in green.

5) After the paint has dried, the plate must be varnished. Ready!

In this master class, we will decorate a porcelain plate with acrylic contours using the dot painting technique.

To create a plate "Bird of Happiness" using the dot painting technique, we need:

A plate of any diameter (a porcelain plate with a diameter of 15 cm is used here);

Pencil on glass (it is better to draw a sketch with a white pencil, since it does not color the outline applied on top of it. Here, for greater clarity, a red pencil was used to draw on glass, porcelain, plastic and metal from the company "KOH-I-NOOR");

Auxiliary materials: alcohol / vodka, cotton pads, cotton buds, toothpicks / orange stick for manicure, napkins.

Step-by-step master class on spot painting a plate with acrylic contours

We prepare a plate for painting - wash it with soap / dishwashing detergent, wipe it dry, wipe it with a cotton pad moistened with alcohol / vodka.

We draw a sketch with a pencil on the glass - first a bird in the center of the plate, then flowers with leaves along the edges, filling with them the free space around the bird.

We circle the bird with a black mother-of-pearl outline with dots: we try to make the dots of the same size, adjusting the pressure on the tube, and also put them as close to each other as possible, but at the same time so that they do not merge.

During operation, paint will accumulate on the tip of the plastic nozzle of the tube, it must be periodically removed by wiping the nozzle on a napkin.

In case of errors (for example, the points merged or the line of points turned out to be uneven), there are two options:

1) wait until the contour dries up, and then pick up the erroneous points with something sharp (for example, a toothpick or an orange stick for manicure) and remove them without touching the neighboring points. After that (if necessary), with a slightly damp cotton swab, clean up the place where the bad point was. This method is useful for dense patterns, when there is bad point another pattern is already present, and there is a risk of smearing adjacent points.

2) if the failed point is located at the very edge of the drawing, and there are no other points near it, you can carefully erase the still dry point with a damp cotton swab, then wipe this place with a dry cotton swab and only then continue the “dotting”.

In the middle of each flower we put a dot of lemon color. The larger the flower, the larger the dot.

Let's circle the flower petals with dots: two flowers in metallic purple, one in metallic blue, one in bronze and one in royal purple.

Draw the leaves with a green metallic outline, leaving room for a rim along the edge of the plate. We draw the beak of the bird with a bronze outline (for convenience, you can use a toothpick, “stretching” the paint with it), and the eye with light silver. When all the drawn points are dry, gently wipe the red pencil from the plate with slightly damp cotton swabs.

The bird's beak is circled with black mother-of-pearl dots. We finish the eye with the same color, putting a “comma” on the light silver circle drawn earlier. We “dot” the rim of the plate with a lemon-colored contour. On the inside of the flower petals, draw a series of lemon-colored dots.

Fill the flowers with color, for which we put the following row of dots inside each petal:

In one purple flower - lilac (hereinafter I will call this flower purple-lilac);
- in the second purple flower - purple mother-of-pearl (hereinafter - purple mother-of-pearl);
- in a blue flower - blue;
- in a purple flower - dark red;
- in a bronze flower - gold.

The blue flower is ready.

We “sharpen” the upper part of the bird’s wings with a pink outline. We continue to add color to the flowers:

Purple: fill the main three petals in the center with lemon-colored dots; in the petals background behind the main petals we put in the center a large dot of royal purple, and along the edges of it along a small dot of red dark color;
- violet-purple: in the main three petals we put three large pink dots, in others we put a purple dot and stretch it with a toothpick, as if drawing a tail to it;
- purple mother-of-pearl: in the main three petals we put three large pink dots, in others we put a dot with a purple mother-of-pearl contour and stretch it with a toothpick, as if drawing a tail to it;
- bronze: fill the front three petals with small golden dots, and put one large golden dot in the three back petals.

Flowers are ready.

On the inside of the leaves, draw a series of dots of lemon color. Let's mark the center of the leaves with green metallic: from the base to the end we will put a series of dots - from large ones gradually reaching the smallest ones. In this case, it is necessary not only to draw a straight line of dots, but to take into account the shape of the leaf, and in accordance with it, designate the central line.

We continue to fill the leaves with color: we put a row of turquoise dots, and fill the remaining space with rows of olive ones.

We draw 2 purple rows of dots along the abdomen of our bird: we put the largest ones in the center and gradually reduce the size of the dots towards the edges. We circle the feathers, tail and body with one row of dots of light silver color.

We cover the feathers on the wings of the bird with purple dots, the rest of the wings with a purple metallic outline.

With dots of the same color (purple metallic) we fill the upper body of the bird and the tail. We paint over the body with dots of different sizes: large, medium, and very small, in a chaotic manner. The tail, on the other hand, is in even rows of dots of the same size.

We sharpen the abdomen in pink, while randomly filling the entire space with dots of different sizes, like a torso.

The bird is ready.

We fill the free space of the plate between the bird and the flowers with rows of identical dots of golden contour gel.

The plate "Bird of happiness" is ready!
