How to take a different frame from a live photo. Editing Live Photos on iPhone: How to Add Effects, Remove Sound, and Trim. How to Choose the Best Frame from a Live Photo

We are once again returning to the topic of the capabilities of the newly-made flagship iPhone 6s and once again we want to prove: if we talk about purchasing, then the game is not worth the candle. At least if the quantities random access memory, processor power and camera resolution in the “old” iPhone are quite satisfactory for you, with the help of a few tweaks you can give the “morally outdated” gadget all the same functions as in the new models.

We have already partially figured it out (soon we will talk about the full use of the function inside applications). It's the praised one's turn. Hardware limitation, you say? Not at all! Previous iPhone models can shoot in this mode just as well!

Installing the EnableLivePhotos tweak

Note: Following these instructions is only possible on iOS devices that have undergone the jailbreak procedure.

In order for the iPhone to learn how to take “live photos” from a third-party Cydia store, we will need to download the EnableLivePhotos tweak.

There is no need to add repositories, since the tweak is in the BigBoss repository, which is installed by default.

Once the download and installation are complete, you will need to restart Springboard. Let's do it.

Launch the Camera application and monitor the interface changes. Before installing the tweak, the Camera application screen looks like this:

After installation, we now have Live Photo mode, just like on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

This function works in a similar way. You turn on Live Photos in any mode: front or main camera. You press the “shutter button” and the image immediately goes to the gallery.

To make sure the photo was actually taken in Live Photos mode, open the gallery, find the photo, and hold your finger on it.

Note: Installing the EnableLivePhotos tweak allows you to get a fully functional animated photo mode, however, it is worth considering that viewing such photos is only possible on devices running running the iOS mobile operating system. Publishing a “live photo” to in social networks or sending without using the Message app will result in the recipient only seeing a static photo without animation. Simply put, Live Photos currently only works “on iPhone and for iPhone.”

Nice bonus

Photos taken using Live Photos can now be used as "live wallpaper" when unlocking iPhone. Don't believe me? Try it :)

Already, every owner of an iPhone running iOS 11 can take advantage of the expanded functionality of this cool feature.

With the arrival of iOS 11, Live Photos have finally moved from the category of useless advertising marketing into a really useful function with which you can get high-quality, bright and impressive pictures.

What are Live Photos?

For those who don't know, Live Photos adds a few seconds of video (with sound) to a photo before and after the moment it was taken. Such files weigh more, and until the release of iOS 11, you could only view such animated images and nothing more.

New Live Photos have new features. Now you can select the title photo from the entire video sequence. Thus, there is no longer any need to take a series of photos, then select the most successful one, and then delete unused photos.

Just do it live photo(check that the photo is marked LIVE in the upper left corner) and click the " Change».

At the bottom of the display, move the slider on the timeline to select the most successful frame (after you release your finger, the message “ Make the photo the main one", click on it) and confirm your intention by pressing the " Ready».

How to Apply Effects to Live Photos

The second cool innovation is effects that can be applied to live photos. To start editing, open a live photo and swipe it up, after which you will scroll down the page to an additional menu.

On this moment There are four effects available:

  • Live- standard live photo without effects (a kind of reset to the original settings after applying the following effects);
  • A loop- allows you to loop the animation. Unlike the standard solution, when you need to hold your finger with the 3D Touch gesture on the picture to watch the video, with the effect A loop the image will be constantly in motion;
  • Pendulum- play the clip in reverse order. For example, people jumping out of a pool look much more spectacular than those who jump into it;
  • Long exposure- imitates long exposure like on DSLR cameras. Moving objects will receive a nice blur. Beautiful pictures With long exposure are obtained when shooting rivers or car lights at night. There is no need to buy SLR camera, install it on a tripod and hold the shutter speed for several tens of minutes.

How to Crop Live Photos

Open the application " Photo" and select " Live photo" that you want to trim. Click the edit button. On the timeline that appears at the bottom of the screen, move the left and right arrows. This action will change the starting and ending points of your Live Photos. When finished, press the button "Ready".

How to mute sound on Live Photos

Go to photo editing mode marked LIVE by pressing the button Change in the upper right corner.

Click on the loudspeaker icon to turn off the sound in Live Photo and confirm the action by clicking the button Ready.

Live Photos(Live Photos) is a software feature in iOS (Camera application) that allows you to receive animated photos on your iPhone.

Which devices support Live Photo shooting?

Live photos can only be taken on devices that support 3D Touch (technology for detecting pressure on the screen), which are:

  • iPhone 6s;
  • iPhone 6s Plus;
  • iPhone 7;
  • iPhone 7 Plus;
  • iPhone 8;
  • iPhone 8 Plus;
  • iPhone X

How Live Photo works

“Live photos” work very simply - after you start taking photos iPhone camera records 1.5 seconds of video before the photo is taken, and then 1.5 seconds after it is taken. As a result, valuable “context” is added to the photo, information about what was happening around, and the output is a kind of mini-video. The animation is shown by 3D Touch-clicking on the photo.

Apple has already said that Live Photo is not a video file, but a combination of a 12-megapixel .JPG photo with a .MOV file. TechCrunch journalist Matthew Panzarino reports that the "live photo" includes 45 frames, and is played back at a speed of 15 frames per second (that's exactly 3 seconds).

The combination of two formats - .JPG and .MOV - also results in internal storage Live Photo takes up 2 times more space than a regular picture. Panzarino notes that he got successful Live Photos, but the function as a whole is still “crude”:

“In my case, Live Photos turned out to be ideal when I needed to shoot the “atmosphere”, but not the movement. Since the frame rate is quite low, moving the camera while shooting means causing problems in the picture. But if you shoot a still image with several moving elements, the effect is simply amazing.”

1 . Open the application Camera.

2 . Enable the option Live Photos in the top menu. The icon should be yellow.

3 . Press the shutter button (white in the center) to take a photo Live Photos.

Joanna Stern from The Wall Street Journal, however, calls Live Photos"one of the best features of Apple smartphones." You can see several “live photos” of Joanna.

How to Remove Sound, Crop, and Apply Effects to Live Photos on iPhone

Additionally, on macOS High Sierra and later versions of the Mac OS, the Photos app also includes Live Photos editing tools ().

Live Photos(Live Photos) is a software function in iOS (Camera application) that allows you to receive animated photos on your iPhone.

Live Photos is one of key functions iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, implemented exclusively on these devices.

How to properly take Live Photos from iPhone 6s:

  1. Turn on Live Photos
  2. Point the camera at a suitable object and click on the “Shoot” button.
  3. The Live Photo indicator remains on the screen for another 2 seconds. Wait patiently and do not shake your device!
  4. Everything worked out. Press firmly on a picture in your Camera Roll and the picture will move.

However, if you have jailbroken your older iPhone running iOS 9 - iOS 9.0.2 using the Pangu jailbreak, you can now take Live Photos on it too, and this tweak will help you with this EnableLivePhotos.

Once the tweak is installed, a new toggle for live photos will appear in the Camera app. When this switch is active, the few seconds before and after the moment the photo was taken will be recorded along with the photos, just like the original technology.

The Live Photos you take will animate as you scroll through the album containing them. To view a live photo, hold down on it and it will come to life.

EnableLivePhotos- the best analogue of the original Live Photos on smartphones of previous generations. It looks like the developer was able to somehow port this feature from the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus to older devices. EnableLivePhotos can be installed for free from the BigBoss repo in Cydia. You can use it to take Live Photos on iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5 and iPhone 4s.

Live Photos are an exciting new type of photography on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. In short, 1.5-second videos before and after the moment of shooting are attached to the photo, and the result can be viewed as an animated live photo. Because the photo is combined with the .MOV video, it weighs about twice as much as a regular photo, meaning it takes up twice the space in permanent memory and when sent over the network. However, a live photo can be easily converted to a static photo.

Convert live photo to iPhone 6s

For any purpose, a live photo can always be converted into a standard photo and back. In most cases, this feature will be needed when the image is too large when sending it to friends or family members.

Step 1:

Open the Photos app.

Step 2:

Tap on the live photo you want to convert to regular. Distinguishing Live Photos from regular ones can be difficult, but Live Photos have one thing going for them. They animate slightly as you scroll through the album, which makes them easier to tell apart. True, this is not a super efficient way to search, we hope Apple will improve it in the future.

Step 3:

Click Change to open the photo editing window. At the top you will see an icon with a picture of concentric rings. It is highlighted in blue in live photos. Click on the icon and it will go out and the photo will turn into a normal one.

Click Done and the photo will be saved. This photo, which is smaller in size, can be sent over the network.

Even if you really like live photo technology, sometimes you need to send a photo in static form, which can be easily done.
