Step-by-step instructions with photos

So let's get to work.

Step 1: make the leaves

To make leaves, you first need to make a suitable shade for them. To do this, mix 1 part black, 1 part blue and 4 parts light green clay.

Mix everything well until you get a uniform color. You should end up with dark green clay.

Roll a piece of dark green clay into a ball. Then flatten this ball into a thin disk. Squeeze one side of the disc with your fingers and pull it forward. This way you should have a leaf.

Using a thin blade, form a center line and veins on the leaves.

Step 2: prepare clay for petals

  • To make petals, take 2 parts yellow and one part each orange and light brown clay.
  • Roll out all the pieces into a cane. Press the canes together this way: first brown, then yellow and finally orange.

Roll the canes into a ball. After this, pull the ball into one long cane. Fold it in half lengthwise and roll it back into a thin cane.

Step 3: sculpt the petals

Pinch off small pieces 1-1.5 cm long from the cane. Roll the pieces into thin tubes. Press the ends of the tubes towards the middle.

Step 4: make the middle

Form a medium-sized ball from a piece of dark brown clay, which you then squeeze into a round disk.

Use a toothpick to make small, thin indentations on the disk.

Step 5: Collecting the Flower

Stick yellow-brown petals to the underside of the disk. Lay the petals slightly overlapping - this way the sunflower will look more organic.

At the end of the work, bend some of the petals slightly to the sides - this will give them a more natural look.

Step 6: Bake the Flowers

  • Bake the formed flowers in an oven for the amount of time indicated in the instructions for the polymer clay.
  • Cool the baked sunflowers.

The polymer clay sunflower is ready!

You can glue a magnet to the reverse side of these polymer clay sunflowers and then put them on the refrigerator. You can also glue them to a hairpin or use them as decoration for a summer panel - whatever you wish.

I wish you all good luck!

In this master class we will make sunny flowers, namely polymer clay sunflowers. This process is simple, so it takes no more than an hour for an experienced craftswoman; we advise beginners to thoroughly prepare and study the section. With some effort, you will end up with a beautiful set of sunflower jewelry or an unusual flower arrangement. Such compositions are very fashionable in Lately began to decorate the interior. It is especially important to do this before the holidays. Transform your interior and order furniture from the manufacturer. And complement it with sunflowers.
For work we will need the following tools and materials:
  • Polymer clay in three shades: yellow, brown and black (how to choose clay - read the article);
  • Blade or stationery knife, figured blade;
  • Round cutter;
  • Nail clippers, nail scissors will also work;
  • Toothpicks or needles;
  • Pasta machine or rolling pin;
  • Varnish for polymer clay.

Before starting work, knead the plastic thoroughly.
1. Using a pasta machine at maximum thickness, roll out the black plastic. Using a round cutter, cut out three shapes.

2. Using manicure tweezers, starting from any edge of the black plastic mold, lightly pinch the clay so that triangles are formed (drive the tweezers to the depth of the layer and pinch).

3. Using polymer clay in yellow and brown shades, we make a smooth color transition. Keep the proportions of different colors of clay in the same ratio as shown in the figure.

4. Fold the resulting yellow-brown ribbon like an accordion.

5. We squeeze the cane, using our fingers we pinch the top in the yellow area so that the sausage has the shape of a petal. Cut the cane into thin petals.

6. Use a toothpick to make a central vein along the petal. We do the same with all the petals.

7. Place the first layer of petals on the black core polymer clay sunflower. We do this so that each next petal overlaps the previous one.

8. Place the second layer of petals. We put them on the bottom layer so that they cover the space between the petals of the first row.

9. Don't forget to make holes in the places you need. For the earrings, I chose the thickest petals. Now we can safely send everything for baking. Strictly observe the baking time and temperature, following the recommendations on the package.

10. After baking, degrease the surface of polymer clay sunflowers with any detergent, polish if necessary, reverse side products and varnish the sunflowers. Insert connecting rings into the holes of the petals and hang earrings in them. And it is enough to place the metal base for the ring on quick-drying glue.

These sunflowers made from polymer clay can become stylish jewelry or decorate your interior.
