Step-by-step master class on dot painting of plates with acrylic contours
We prepare the plate for painting - wash it with soap/dishwashing liquid, wipe it dry, wipe it with a cotton pad moistened with alcohol/vodka.
We draw a sketch with a pencil on the glass - first a bird in the center of the plate, then flowers with leaves along the edges, filling the free space around the bird with them.
We outline the bird with a black pearl outline with dots: we try to make the dots the same size, adjusting the pressure on the tube, and also place them as close to each other as possible, but at the same time so that they do not merge.
While working, paint will accumulate on the tip of the plastic spout of the tube; it must be removed periodically by wiping the spout on a napkin.
In case of errors (for example, the points merged or the line of points turned out to be uneven), two options are possible:
1) wait until the outline dries, and then pick up the erroneous points with something sharp (for example, a toothpick or an orange manicure stick) and remove them without touching the neighboring points. After this (if necessary), use a slightly damp cotton swab to clean the area where the bad point was. This method is convenient for dense patterns when there is bad point another pattern is already present, and there is a risk of blurring adjacent points.
2) if the failed point is located at the very edge of the drawing, and there are no other points near it, you can carefully erase the still wet point with a damp cotton swab, then wipe this place with a dry cotton swab and only then continue “dotting”.

Let's outline the flower petals with dots: two flowers in metallic purple, one in metallic blue, one in bronze and one in royal purple.
Draw the leaves with a metallic green outline, leaving room for a rim along the edge of the plate. Let's draw the bird's beak with a bronze outline (for convenience, you can use a toothpick to “stretch” the paint with it), and the eye with light silver. When all the drawn dots are dry, carefully wipe the red pencil from the plate with slightly damp cotton swabs.
We outline the bird's beak with black pearl-colored dots. We add the same color to the eye, placing a “comma” on the previously drawn light silver circle. We “point” the rim of the plate with a lemon-colored outline. On the inside of the flower petals we draw a series of lemon-colored dots.
Fill the flowers with color by placing the following row of dots inside each petal:
In one purple flower there is lilac (hereinafter I will call this flower violet-lilac);
- in the second purple flower - purple pearlescent (hereinafter referred to as purple pearlescent);
- in a blue flower - blue;
- in a purple flower - dark red;
- in a bronze flower - golden.
The blue flower is ready.
“Sharpen” the upper part of the bird’s wings with a pink outline. We continue adding color to the flowers:
Purple: fill the main three petals in the center with lemon-colored dots; in the petals on background behind the main petals we place a large dot of royal purple in the center, and at the edges of it a small dot of dark red color;
- violet-lilac: in the main three petals we put three large pink dots, in the others we put a purple dot and stretch it with a toothpick, as if drawing a tail for it;
- purple pearlescent: in the main three petals we put three large pink dots, in the others we put a dot with a purple pearlescent outline and stretch it with a toothpick, as if drawing a tail for it;
- bronze: fill the front three petals with small gold dots, and put one large gold dot in the three back petals.
The flowers are ready.
On the inside of the leaves we draw a row of lemon-colored dots. We will use green metallic to denote the center of the leaves: from the base to the end we will put a series of dots - from the largest ones, gradually reaching the smallest ones. In this case, it is necessary not only to draw a straight line of points, but to take into account the shape of the leaf, and in accordance with it, mark the central line.
We continue to fill the leaves with color: we put a row of turquoise dots, and fill the remaining space with rows of olive ones.
We draw 2 purple rows of dots along the abdomen of our bird: we put the largest ones in the center and gradually reduce the size of the dots towards the edges. We outline the feathers, tail and body with one row of light silver dots.
We cover the feathers on the bird's wings with purple dots, and the rest of the wings with a metallic purple outline.
Using dots of the same color (metallic violet) we fill the upper part of the bird’s body and tail. We paint the body with dots of different sizes: large, medium, and very small, in a chaotic order. The tail, on the contrary, is in even rows of dots of the same size.
We sharpen the abdomen with pink color, while randomly filling the entire space with dots of different sizes, like the torso.
The bird is ready.
We fill the free space of the plate between the bird and the flowers with rows of identical dots of golden contour gel.
