In 2011, Dmitry Grishin, the newly minted director of Mail.ru Group (former DST), which also owned the social network Odnoklassniki, announced to Durov his intention to buy 100% of the shares of VKontakte and merge it with Odnoklassniki, as well as bring VK shares to an IPO, that is, offer them for purchase to a wide range of people.
