Fiber optic network Beltelecom. Tariffs "Beltelecom" for "fiber". What problems can a regular PON user have?

Literally over the past couple of decades, computer devices for communication, communication, work or entertainment have appeared in almost every family. Subscriber connections are made via telephone lines, radio channels, and in Lately optical fiber is widely used.

I had to evaluate the possibilities of this technology on my own experience. Based on it, I publish advice home master to connect your computer to the Internet via a fiber optic cable and create an apartment wired and wireless network with explanatory pictures, diagrams and video.

First exposure to new technology

A decade and a half ago, the 330 kV substation where I worked received new equipment that registers and processes information on electrical signals from a network of a very large number of sensors located in different places - the Parma registrar.

This is an ordinary computer with its own software performing purely electrical tasks.

Its installation, connection and adjustment were entrusted to us, with the exception of the assembly and configuration of fiber optic trunks. We have no experience with them.

Up to this point, communication with these sensors occurred through conventional electrical circuits, which are called secondary. However, a whole group of these devices was at a great distance. The project involved exchanging information with them via fiber optic cable. We laid it inside the cable channel ourselves, and a representative of the manufacturer who came from St. Petersburg was involved in the connection and verification.

It was then that it became clear that it was impossible to work with fiber optics without specialized equipment and proper skills. It is impossible to do anything with it with your own hands.

Fiber optic cable design

The transmission of information occurs through optical highways, consisting of separate media, combined into a common structure - an optical fiber cable.

The principle of operation of the optical media

The exchange of information occurs due to the passage of laser light from the built-in LED. Its transmission is carried out by impulses of a binary code in one direction. Therefore, two individual channels have been created at once for the exchange of information.

About cable design

Glass is a fragile material. It can be easily broken, and optical fiber works by using glass fibers. It is clear that they require reliable protection from both mechanical damage and loss of light energy.

To this end optical media in various ways they are combined into rigid modules and made from them into a fiber optic cable. It can be of different designs. One of them is shown in the diagram.

At our substation, two types of cable were used: one with a diameter of 6 mm, and the second with the thickness of the index finger of the hand.

The issue of this technology is described in some detail in the GalileoRU video “Fiber Optic”.

Laying fiber in the field

Last winter, a mechanized laying of such a cable directly into the ground was carried out near us.

The work was carried out by three, and on difficult terrain by four tractors coupled in a train. They were dragging a cable-laying plow buried one and a half meters into the ground. On the trolley of this mechanism there is a large cable reel, which, when manually untwisted by the operator, issues the cable through the plow channels into the trench being cut through.

A highly visible signal tape is automatically placed on top of the optical fiber on the ground layer. It is immediately backfilled with soil, and a trace of a deepening of the order of twenty centimeters or a little more remains on the surface of the soil.

After some time, all the irregularities were leveled with a bulldozer knife of a light wheeled tractor. In summer, the laying route is overgrown with grass. But on the ground it can be restored by concrete columns.

Connectivity Technology

On the driveway bulletin board I saw a message from Beltelecom that interested me.

It was also placed on all adjacent buildings. In such an original way, the provider reported that the era of using copper telephone cables in our area was ending, and the nearby automatic telephone exchanges would soon stop working.

All landline users must make a choice:

  • agree with the transition to new equipment offered by the provider;
  • or refuse, remaining on the old copper cable.

The choice is voluntary, but very soon the automatic telephone exchange will be stopped: telephone communication over a copper cable will automatically be terminated to the Internet. You will have to conclude a repeated contract and pay money for this service. The provider now performs the replacement of old equipment and the installation of a new one at his own expense, and all this is provided to customers free of charge.

I can tell right away that I was not satisfied. Interested unlimited Internet By favorable tariff from the provider.

Therefore, I agreed with the provider to connect the Internet via fiber optic.

The work carried out was carried out in three stages:

  1. Installation of an optical fiber network;
  2. Getting a new modem and installing it;
  3. Creating and connecting home network equipment to the Internet via optical fiber.

Installation work

Literally a few days after posting the ads, teams of installers appeared in the house from. The roar from them did not stop for two days. The panel structure of the five-story building has good acoustics: sounds spread in all directions.

The work was carried out simultaneously in the entrances and apartments.

Installation of equipment at the entrance

Two separate teams worked inside the house.

First day

Electricians punched small holes through the interfloor ceilings, fastened plastic canisters and laid a 6 mm fiber optic cable in them.

By the end of the day it hung in coiled rings over every door.

The end of each was closed with a special plug.

Subsequent days

In the middle of the landing along the wall, holes were punched in concrete slabs for plastic pipes with a diameter of 4 cm.

This is the loudest period of work. If the rumble of the first day can be satisfactorily endured while in the apartment, then at this stage it is better to move away and spend time in another place until the evening.

The process ends with the installation of equipment for optical junction boxes and plastic pipes for optical fiber cables.

To power the powerful puncher, the electricians used an extension coil and connected it to the intercom socket by opening the common access box.

By pulling out the power cord of the door electromagnets, they created unauthorized access for any people to the entrance. Plug your extension cord into this outlet.

Which ones were in the air and what was scattered throughout the entrance I will not describe. Restoring normal order took more than one day.

Installation of equipment in the apartment

In parallel with the work at the entrance, the provider's specialist entered into an agreement with customers, explained the safety requirements for handling fragile optical fiber, and helped with advice on choosing the location for installing an optical outlet.

It can be installed anywhere. I chose the corner of the corridor near the intercom and the old one. The height of the modem at the level of the knee was quite suitable.

The length of the fiber optic cable in the apartment was only a few tens of centimeters. The hole was punched with a perforator at the level of the plinth.

A piece of steel wire was pushed through it from the side of the entrance.

On reverse side tape was taped to the end of the fiber optic cable.

Plastic boxes were fixed from this place.

Installed the optical socket housing on the wall.

They laid the optical fiber, making a small bay in special grooves.

The boxes were closed with lids.

The completion of these works was recorded in the documentation of the master electrician and certified by my signature.

An important requirement at the place of installation of the modem is the presence of an electrical outlet next to it for connecting the power supply. Its relatively short cord is limited to one meter.

I had to do extra work specifically for the modem. : near the plinth. The location in the corner limits accidental access to it.

Obtaining a Modem and Preparing to Switch to Fiber Optic

A few days later, I received a notice from the provider in my mailbox with a proposal to come to the service center for documentation new contract.

Organizational matters

When I came to the service center, there was no crowd of customers and there was no queue. The indicated date and time of arrival met my expectations.

The operator of the provider quickly completed her work, and I received the completed documentation and a box with a modem.

I was surprised that, when receiving the ADSL modem and the corresponding accessories for it last time, all the equipment was packed in a branded plastic bag with company advertising. Now this box had to be tucked under the arm: the provider saved on packaging.

The operator explained that a team of electricians would arrive from it to install the modem and lay a wired network. The work will be done in sequence. She enclosed the completed form for its holding in the box. I am obliged to confirm the moment of completion of the installation with my signatures and must transfer the completed document to the master.

Then the next stage will follow: a service center specialist will arrive to connect my equipment to the Internet via optical fiber. His task is to remove the telephone network ADSL modem, splitter and extra cables.
I, as a client of the provider, must return to the service center removed equipment on the day of the transition to fiber, or at least the next day.

Technical measures

A few days after visiting the service center, two electricians arrived at my apartment. I gave them a fiber optic modem to mount on the wall.

Its installation was carried out quickly: two holes were punched with a puncher and the case was fixed with self-tapping screws through the dowels, a modem was inserted into it, and a fiber optic cable was connected.

The apartment has plastic skirting boards around the perimeter of the floor. Inside them, two twisted-pair wires from the modem to the phone and TV were secretly laid. I was worried about their length: I assumed that it was limited to standard sizes.

But the issue was resolved very simply. Installers have a large bay of such a cable. They cut off the necessary piece, stack it, and then finish it on all sides.

The crimping of the lugs with the RJ-45 connectors of the cable of the interactive TV set-top box and RJ-11 for the telephone was performed with REXANT pliers.

After completing these operations, I signed the outfit and gave it to the master electrician.

Creating and configuring the Internet

Input scheme

In fact, a network for connecting an optical fiber modem to the Internet was assembled. It remains to re-switch the control of the telephone, TV and computer to it, apply power supply, and perform adjustment of all devices.

This scheme is very similar to working through a copper telephone cable. The difference is that here the landline phone is connected after the modem and loses its autonomy when it is turned off.

If the power supply voltage of the 220 volt household network disappears, then any modem is always turned off. When he works on ADSL technologies, then the phone with the PBX line remains connected via a splitter, and the connection of old devices without a separate power supply is not lost. The subscriber can call anywhere, including emergency services to resolve their issues.

In the scheme for connecting to the Internet via optical fiber, this possibility is not available. There is only hope for mobile communications.

Adjustment work

After completing all the operations, the electricians had to connect the fiber-optic equipment, configure the computer, WiFi networks, phone, TV under its characteristics. These questions were dealt with by the provider's specialists, who arrived after three days of waiting.

One of them energized the fiber optic modem, took out a laptop and began to configure it.

Entered the necessary data to connect the phone to the new network.

Setting the password for the Wi-Fi network and all equipment is performed by the provider's specialist. This is different from connecting to the Internet via a cable telephone line, where an ordinary user can enter the modem settings through a patch cord and change passwords at his discretion.

However, an advanced user has the ability to change the settings fiber optic modem by logging into the router at 192.168.100.1 through the factory login and password, which the provider does not change.

During this time, the second worker dismantled the power circuit of the ADSL modem, switched the TV and telephone control cables to fiber optic. He also collected all the old equipment that is subject to delivery.

We checked the Internet speed on the computer.

I was once again warned that I needed to go to the provider's service center, hand over the old equipment: ADSL modem, splitter and cables to them, transfer money from the old account to the new one.

When switching to fiber, the user is provided with new office on the provider's service, and the old one ceases to operate: until the moment the money is replenished, the Internet will stop working on it.

The prospect of being left without the Internet for more than a day did not suit me. He asked how this issue could be resolved. They helped me to arrange the promised payment, which must be confirmed with a real payment within three days.

All these operations took about 10 minutes. I thanked the provider's specialists for the work done and went to the service center, where they quickly managed to resolve all issues and change the tariff plan to a more profitable one.

When I came home in the evening, I found that the landline phone had stopped working. It upset. It was too late to look for specialists. Left it for the next day.

In the morning, the phone was already working on the new number, and the Internet speed increased dramatically.

Thus, there was a connection to the Internet through the optical fiber of my computer.

The owner of the Diplomatrutube video explains in detail the question of how "PON technology goes from the telephone exchange to the apartment."

If you have any questions on the topic, then ask them in the comments.

I have nothing to do with Beltelecom and their installers, so your judgment is wrong. Yes, and everything is visible in my profile, but you don’t care about the details.
When I had an optics done, I noticed that the installers do as you tell them (they spared neither the cable channel nor the cable (I'm talking about a LAN cable for a TV and a computer, a copper telephone cable for a phone).
You are deceiving yourself - you did not care about the installation, instead of a timely dialogue with the installers before and during the work. You may need to learn how to respectfully negotiate work and respectfully accept negotiated work.
Instead of being here ordinary people complain (in fact - nowhere), you better contact Beltelecom.

Dear self-appointed lawyer of Beltelecom, or whoever you are... You don’t know the details yourself, but you have already drawn incredible conclusions... When my apartment was connected, when I came home from work, I only managed to check the installation in my vestibule in me the previously installed cable channel. And in the next vestibule from the shield and the entrance, they were smoking without me. Do you know everyone has a job, and a week before that I took a day off and waited for the brigade all day, but no one came at the appointed time. And the installers carried the cable to the neighbors in general in my absence and frolic, as they saw fit. Although I immediately warned them not to put the neighbor's cable into my cable channel. The fact that they do not install sockets for optics is certainly not the fault of the performers, it is the fault of the developer of the regulations. In addition, they did not tell me anything about the absence of an outlet. And they are well aware that the slightest bend in the wire can lead to its failure. I'd buy the outlet myself if I knew. Obviously, so much fragile wiring should be brought only to a stationary outlet. And the owner cannot check where the cliff is without special equipment. Yes, they did not spare the cable, but why do I need these fragile tails in the apartment?
And why shouldn't people know about my negative experience? As they say, teach your wife how to cook cabbage soup. And I will solve the issue with them and make them redo everything as it should. But why should I waste my time on this? Maybe someone just sucks doing their job?

Somewhere a little over a year ago, I had optics done and during installation in the apartment they installed an optical socket - it looks like this one: https://axata.by/wp-content/themes/axata/img/ora1.png

You should spend your time on this, if only because you are doing it for yourself, to satisfy your needs.

Imagine that you are the installer.
As in Vasya Oblomov's song "Memento mori":
Imagine that your doctor studied like you
Imagine that an accountant thinks like you
Imagine that the traffic cop is honest like you,
Imagine that everything around you is you.
And neither the cross nor the aspen stake will help,
And even prayer, head on the floor.
Looking for a way to stay on track
Blaming your neighbor for failures.

There are areas of human activity that are changing before our eyes, and we are witnessing what will later be called history. modern communication is one of the areas with rapidly developing technologies. Telephone exchanges built in the 80s no longer meet the ever-increasing demand for data transfer speeds, new services and services. In 2011, new settlers of the regional center for the first time evaluated the possibilities of xPON technology.

Why xPON technology was chosen as a promising technology - Viktor Vladimirovich Matveev, director of the Grodno branch of Beltelecom, answers this question.

xPON technology (passive optical networks) represents the next round of network evolution, as it involves the use of fiber optic lines not only at the backbone level, but also at the “last mile” level. That is, not a copper cable, but a fiber comes to the subscriber's apartment. In this case, the subscriber is provided with the entire resource of the optical cable, which is brought directly to his apartment, in contrast to home network operators, where the channel is allocated to the house and, accordingly, is equally divided between connected users. Even 20 years ago, when telephones were actively installed, no one could have imagined that it would be possible not only to make calls, but also to work on the Internet, as well as watch television, and not analog, but digital and interactive. Today in Grodno region high speed internet byfly is used by every second family, the number of ZALA digital interactive television users is constantly growing. Accordingly, the load on the telephone line also increases. Copper lines are subject to certain limitations. bandwidth. As I said before, PON is a step into the future. With this technology, the copper cable is replaced with an individual fiber-optic cable, which is laid in the subscriber's apartment and ends with a special subscriber device. To this device, you can connect several telephones, computers, ZALA interactive TV set-top boxes, burglar alarms and other devices. In 2013, the number of subscribers connected via xPON technology amounted to about 22,000. In 2014, the branch plans to switch to the new technology about 18,000 more subscribers.

- Two years technologyx PON "walks" across the Grodno land! Viktor Vladimirovich, please tell us who was lucky enough to become a subscriber of the new generation network?

The first projects based on xPON technology, Viktor Vladimirovich says, were introduced in new buildings in Grodno in 2011. In two years, the new generation network has stepped outside the regional center and today the wide possibilities of the “optics to the apartment” technology are available to residents of settlements: Volkovysk, Lida, Mosty, Ostrovets, Oshmyany, Slonim, Smorgon, Shchuchin. Novogrudok will join them this year. We "came" with fiber optics not only in the apartments of new settlers, but also in existing apartment buildings. The introduction of xPON technology in existing residential buildings is carried out systematically: house by house, entrance by entrance. The process of replacing a copper pair with "optics" is as comfortable as possible for our customers. All costs for the replacement of technology "Beltelecom" "takes over". The fiber-optic cable that is laid in the client's apartment is not "glass". It is very flexible and durable, does not oxidize or get wet. Fiber breakage is possible only when the cable is strongly bent, therefore, like a copper cable, it requires care in operation. The fiber-optic cable is laid in a special cable channel and it can only be damaged purposefully. The switching work will be carried out in stages, in accordance with the schedule. A list of houses connected using xPON technology is available on the website:.

- Viktor Vladimirovich, what advantages does xPON technology provide for subscribers?

Of course, the main thing is speed. - a new standard for Internet access speeds - incoming (from the network to the subscriber) and outgoing (from the subscriber to the network) speeds up to 100 Mbps and higher. For individuals- this is a line of tariff plans Record. Legal entities are offered tariff plans of the "Business Set" group - the most popular speeds with high quality and reliability of communication, which allow exchanging large amounts of information in a matter of seconds;

Second - stable quality of services - the quality does not depend on such parameters as the length of the subscriber line, the cross section of the core, weather conditions, etc.;

Thirdly, the possibility of free viewing of video in HD quality, including viewing HD channels in ZALA interactive television;

Fourthly, there are no restrictions - fiber allows you to connect several TV sets to ZALA digital interactive television services via one line.

- Viktor Vladimirovich, how do subscribers switch to the new technology?

On the eve of the switchover, employees of the Grodno branch carry out a set of measures to inform residents about new technology and order of work. Materials are posted on information boards at the entrances, personal letters are sent to customers, by phone or in person, the time and day are agreed upon when it will be convenient for the subscriber to receive the company's masters to install equipment, conclude contracts for telecommunication services. If the subscriber is not at home, we ask the subscriber to contact the Beltelecom Service Center. You must have your passport with you.

- What about telephone numbering?

For subscribers living in Grodno, whose phone numbers begin with 55 and 56, in most cases only the first digit of the phone number (5 to 6) will change, while the next five digits will be preserved. For new settlers, at the conclusion of the contract, a telephone number is allocated from the list of free ones. For subscribers of the telephone network of district centers, in whose apartments we plan to install fiber optics, the phone number will change. They will be notified in advance with a new phone number. By the way, I note that within the framework of the Elite Number service, the subscriber is given the opportunity to choose a phone number.

- Will the tariffs for PON technology differ from the tariffs for connecting subscribers via a copper cable?

The construction of networks using new technologies is carried out by the Grodno branch at its own expense. Subscriber equipment for connecting services is also purchased at the expense of Beltelecom and provided to subscribers for use for the duration of the contract. Regardless of the connection method, the tariffs for the provision of services are the same for all Beltelecom users.

Viktor Vladimirovich, tell us about special offers for subscribers connected via xPON and existing promotions for these subscribers?

Specially for the xPON technology, an offer was developed - the byfly "Record" tariff line and the "Express" package offer. Thus, the tariff plan "Record 10" assumes an access speed of 10 Mbps, "Record 15" - 15 Mbps, "Record 20" - 20 Mbps, the Express package includes round-the-clock access to the Internet "Record 5" and services of digital interactive TV ZALA. Today, the "Record conditions" promotion is valid for the "Record" tariff line and the "Express" service package. Discounts upon connection range from 30 to 47 percent. For example, cost tariff plan"Record 15" is 330,000 rubles, when connecting under the promotion, the subscriber will receive a discount of 47%, which is 155,000 rubles.

- Viktor Vladimirovich, what would you like to say to our readers at the end of the interview?

Every day we communicate with our customers, learn about their interests and listen to their wishes in the provision and provision of telecommunication services. And we do everything to meet their needs and expectations - we bring new services and services to the market, improve existing services, and delight them with promotional offers.

Tariffs for telecommunications services and the list of services provided are posted on the Beltelecom website. Information on tariffs, services and ongoing promotions of Beltelecom can be found by calling 130 (the service is free).

The backbone operator of Belarus calls the changes that are taking place in the country in the field of introducing new communication technologies a fiber-optic revolution. And today, optical communication is already available to hundreds of thousands of Belarusians. Undoubtedly, this figure will grow even more in the coming years. On the development strategy and the introduction of new technologies - our dialogue with the head of the Mozyr ZUES Alexander Bolsun.

- Alexander Nikolaevich, today the city is carrying out a massive replacement of copper communication lines with fiber optic ones. One way or another, by the end of 2020, all copper communication lines in high-rise buildings will be replaced with fiber, and Beltelecom subscribers will receive maximum speeds access to the Internet, the ability to connect new high-tech services. Is it possible to tell our readers in more detail about the new technology and the course of its development in the future? Why did it become necessary to replace copper communication lines?

– 10 years ago, Beltelecom launched the Internet access service for individuals and legal entities(trademark byfly). Initially, the service was provided on copper communication networks based on ADSL technology, which has certain speed limits. With the development of the Internet, the growing popularity of "heavy" content, it became obvious that ADSL would not allow to fully provide all subscribers with sufficient speed of Internet access. The question arose about the further technological development of the company. The choice was made in favor of GPON technology. The first projects based on GPON technology were implemented in our city back in 2012. However, the technology has become truly mass-produced since 2015, when for the first time the republican annual increase in subscribers connected to the GPON network amounted to more than 100 thousand. At the beginning of November last year, the millionth subscriber of the Republic of Belarus was connected in Gomel, and by 2020 we plan to connect all apartments in high-rise urban development to GPON.

Today, every new apartment that is rented in Belarus is already connected to the fiber optic network. This is a standard that exists and is approved by the government.

- By what principle does Beltelecom choose where and when to carry out optics?

– The demand for the company's services is fundamental. First of all, the city's districts with high penetration of the Internet and IP-TV, where the existing copper networks do not allow satisfying the existing applications for connecting Beltelecom services, are included in the modernization plans.

There is also a technological factor: we are currently decommissioning the old-type automatic telephone exchanges. The process of decommissioning such exchanges is accompanied by the replacement of copper networks with modern fiber optics.

– What has been done in this direction over the past year, and what will be the focus in the current year?

– In 2016, more than 7,000 subscribers were switched in various districts of the city. The total number of PON subscribers in the city today is already more than 20,000. In 2017, we will maintain the same pace of modernization. In the near future, active replacement of old networks with modern ones will be carried out in the 4th and 5th microdistricts of the city. (b. Friendship, b. Youth, etc.). By the end of the year, it is planned to hand over projects for the modernization of the multi-apartment sector in the settlements of Kozenki and Krinichny.

– Has the average speed of Internet access increased with the introduction of GPON?

– At the end of 2013, the average access speed for Beltelecom subscribers was 1663 Kb/s. Now this figure is approaching 10 Mb / s, that is, the average speed has increased 5 times over 2.5 years. After 2 years, the average speed will be about 20 Mb / s. Already today, GPON subscribers choose an average speed of 25 Mb/s. And the price of such speed is more than affordable. The cost of maintaining a fiber-optic communication line is much less than maintaining a copper one, which makes it possible to make the price more profitable for the subscriber.

– What will a PON subscriber get today, in addition to high speeds of Internet access?

– This year, Beltelecom actively continues to introduce YASNA service packages. Users of such service packages have already experienced all their benefits.

- Let's clarify to readers what such a package is?

– YASNA is a package of three basic services that make modern life more comfortable. This includes Internet access, interactive TV and telephony based on the IMS platform. Telephony services are included in the package on the terms of an unlimited number and time of fixed network connections of RUE Beltelecom. Thus, when making local and long-distance calls, no additional fee, except for the subscription fee for the package, is charged from the subscriber. Usage modern technology xPON, which guarantees high speed Internet access, makes it possible to watch interactive television on any number of TV receivers and the consistently high quality of all services provided. Payment for all services included in this package is made to a common personal account, often and in such amounts as it is convenient for the subscriber. The service package is easy to connect: Beltelecom provides the equipment necessary for connection and use of the services at no additional charge. In addition, for YASNA Plus package subscribers, television services are available for viewing on two TV receivers at no additional charge (that is, within the framework of the subscription fee for the package). In addition to telephone services, access to the network and television, subscribers of the YASNA packages can use all additional features services included in the package. For example, for individuals there is an exclusive offer: any package of services "YASNA" with a discount of 30 to 50% for 12 months, and for legal entities and individual entrepreneurs connected via xPON technology, Beltelecom has developed a special tariff offer for Internet access - "Business Package" with a network access speed of up to 80 Mb/s.

– Can the large-scale use of GPON technology lead to the emergence of new technological services in Belarus?

- Not excluded. Beltelecom is currently developing a very serious project called " Smart House”, behind which a promising future is seen. Its development goes in two directions: as a subscription service that will make a person's life more comfortable due to the possibility of additional control over the state of the home, and as a service for automating processes related to the provision of utilities.

The second direction is connected with the creation of a system that will exclude the influence human factor when paying the population for the consumption of water, gas, electricity and heat. Indeed, today information about the consumption of these resources is entered into the calculation system directly by the subscriber, which, in the presence of differentiated norms and tariffs, leads to incorrect calculations and payments. Regardless of the actual consumption, the consumer tries to pay for resources at the lowest rates. The transition to an automated accounting system, where actual consumption is known at any time, will be a step forward and will change approaches to a more rational use of resources. Consumers will really save, and not engage in mathematical exercises to redistribute the excess consumption of water or electricity throughout the year.

– Alexander Nikolayevich, in your opinion, can the Smart Home project become a social standard in the country?

- So far, this project is local, sectoral, coordinated at the level of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization, but it has a chance for global success with appropriate support from other sectoral ministries and concerns. If such interaction of all stakeholders is ensured, a completely different level of relationships between consumers will be formed in the country. communal resources and their suppliers - utilities. Relations will become more transparent, and each of the parties will have fewer questions and claims to each other.

- Please tell us more about this new product ...

– “Smart Home” is a wireless equipment system that allows you to control everything that happens in the house during your absence with the help of a control device. Thanks to the video surveillance system, wireless sensors for movement, opening doors and windows, water leakage, temperature and humidity levels, smoke, your home will become a safe, real fortress.

The "Smart Home" service is quite available to our subscriber. The basic set includes a subscriber device (controller) and 3 sensors: smoke, movement and door/window opening. The cost of the basic set is only 5 rubles 60 kopecks per month. The equipment is provided free of charge for the duration of the contract. If necessary, the subscriber can receive an additional number of basic sensors, as well as other devices: a video camera, a siren, a smart socket, temperature and humidity sensors, water leakage sensors. Thus, the subscriber determines the number and type of sensors independently, at will. "Smart Home" will ensure the collection, storage and transmission of any information about the home through a computer, tablet, mobile phone and other gadgets via sms, push notification (software message on mobile device) or email email. The subscriber can choose one of the proposed information channels or all at the same time. You can program the settings and triggering conditions of the control device as you wish. Let's say we set up the system not only to inform about the triggering of sensors, but also to perform available actions by executable devices. For example, when a motion sensor is triggered, activate the recording of a surveillance camera. In addition, smart sockets included in the Smart Home equipment kit will allow you to remotely control the supply or disconnection of voltage, adjust lighting, and work of household or office electrical appliances connected to the network. And this, in addition to comfort, is a considerable saving of resources.

- Will new technologies and high data rates (already familiar to us) replace the service - ZALA television?

– In 2014, Beltelecom became the largest television operator in the country. Today, the size of Beltelecom's subscriber base is more than twice as large as the number of clients of the nearest provider. ZALA is developing very dynamically. If at first we were a television operator mainly in countryside, now thanks to GPON we are actively recruiting a subscriber base and we see that the product is in demand. Moreover, the ZALA project has also been developed. Today it is not only interactive television, but also on-air and Smart. Interactive TV ZALA can be connected to several TVs, watch TV on a computer, tablet and smartphone (SMART ZALA). The advantages are undeniable: image quality, viewing HD channels, interactive features (pausing the TV show you are watching with the ability to resume watching; watching TV shows previously broadcast on the air; recording TV shows that will be broadcast in the future). In terms of filling the product with content, we work based on the realities that exist. And, in any case, more than 100 channels on the platform is a good figure for Belarus. Moreover, all channels are absolutely legal.

– What other telecommunication services are most in demand?

– Today, Beltelecom creates a full-fledged base for further development digital technologies and consumption by the population of modern telecommunication products. We are not even talking about the services that are in demand today. All that an average Belarusian family needs is a telephone, 100-megabit Internet, HD TV, which, by the way, is already available to GPON subscribers. But if in 5 years the criterion of consumer choice will be, for example, video content in 4K format or gigabit Internet, then GPON subscribers will not have any problems. what's new said the Minister of Communications and Informatization Sergey Popkov

Belarus today ranks 32nd in the world in the development of information and communication technologies. Being a leader in the CIS and ahead of a number of European countries, Belarus sets an ambitious goal to get into the top 30. To increase the ICT-advancement index, a state program for the development of the digital economy was launched and information society until 2020, BelTA informs. What is special about this program was told by the Minister of Communications and Informatization Sergey Popkov.

1. IMS-platform of Beltelecom operator

Now it is possible to receive several services via one subscriber line - fixed telephone communication, Internet, IPTV television, control a sensor system (the so-called "smart home" concept). The cost mechanism for the construction of subscriber lines has been significantly reduced. If earlier communication lines had to be built for each service, today a number of services are laid in one subscriber line. Almost 2.5 million subscribers are already connected to the IMS platform.

2. Passive optical networks

The rapid pace of implementation of networks based on GPON technology makes it possible to provide data transmission services at speeds up to 100 Mbps. The number of subscribers connected via GPON technology in 2017 increased by 610 thousand to 1.7 million subscribers.

By the end of 2018, GPON will be in every high-rise building in regional and district centers. In 2019, the modernization of the so-called "last mile", that is, the subscriber line to the subscriber's apartment, will be completed.

In schools, we will finish work in 2019, in the medical field - in 2020.

3. Internet and TV

The number of TV broadcast subscribers in 2017 increased by 190 thousand and, as of January 1, 2018, amounted to more than 3.5 million subscribers, including 1.724 million IPTV subscribers and 1.79 million cable TV subscribers.

About 10.3 million subscribers use broadband Internet access in Belarus. There are about 3.1 million subscribers and users of fixed and about 7.2 million mobile broadband subscribers.

4. About 4G connection

The Belarusian Cloud Technologies (beCloud) infrastructure operator has been created, which, on equal terms, provides operators with the opportunity to provide fourth-generation communication services to subscribers. Today MTS and life operators are already developing services based on fourth generation networks, velcom is in the process of resolving this issue.

Access to 4G is available today in Minsk, in all regional centers and major regional centers. Until the end of 2018, LTE technology will come to settlements with a population of 50,000 or more. In 2018-2019, it is planned to install about 630 more base stations, which will provide access to a single LTE network to more than 76% of the population of Belarus. In fact, by the end of 2018 - in the first half of 2019, the large-scale deployment of the fourth generation network will end.

5. About 5G communication

The International Telecommunication Union has confirmed that by the end of 2018 it will start testing the fifth generation communication standard. 5G technology is designed to transfer large amounts of data to high speeds. But you need to understand that fifth generation networks in more are needed to provide services for the economy, the industrial sector. These are ensuring public safety, the development of mobile television, the Internet of things, and the transmission of big data. As for citizens, it is likely that the percentage of 5G users will not be so large.

6. About the cost of communication services

Issues of tariff increase are under consideration, the decision will be made jointly with the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade. Tariffs can rise in a percentage not higher than the inflation rate, perhaps, as the minister promised, and will not reach the inflation rate.

7. About the third operator of external Internet traffic

Today we have two operators of external Internet traffic - the National Traffic Exchange Center and Beltelecom. Two operators quite successfully cope with the tasks. The ministry sees no need to create a third operator.

8. Development of an open data portal

Worked out regulatory framework to create an open data portal: which departments and what information should provide. The greatest demand is for information from the economic sector, which corresponds to the global trend and is understandable at the first stages of project implementation. Data in this category is in demand by the business community, which is the most active in the Internet environment.

After passing the initial stage of the portal operation, the distribution of the demand indicator may partially change in favor of data from other sectors: Agriculture, trade, real estate, housing and communal services and others. We are ready to hold an open competition for a developer technological solution. Until the end of the year, the de facto portal will work and be constantly updated depending on the needs of citizens and businesses, as is done all over the world.

According to Sergei Popkov, Belarus has made serious progress in the development of ICT, in the UN rating for readiness for e-government the country is in 49th place. Ahead of us are countries with much more developed economies. Belarus entered the top 20 countries with the most convenient electronic public services.

Now the task is to consolidate the efforts of the entire ICT community to implement a common digital agenda. On the platform of the EAEU, Belarus initiates the development of a paperless trade system as one of the main elements of optimizing foreign trade, increasing the export potential of all countries of the union.

A format for submitting initiatives to the Eurasian Economic Commission has been developed. Competence centers are now being created to work out these initiatives and isolate what will give a serious impetus to the further advancement of the digital agenda.

Alexander Lukashenko's statement about the Decree « On the development of the digital economy”:

The main goal of the document is to create conditions for global IT companies to come to Belarus, open their representative offices, development centers and create a product that is in demand in the world. The second goal of the Decree is investment in the future. These are IT personnel and education. The third is the introduction of the latest financial instruments and technologies. The world's leading economies are just eyeing this new phenomenon. Belarus is actually becoming the first state in the world that opens up wide opportunities for using blockchain technology. We have every chance to become regional center competencies in this area.
